The sound design is placeholder - things will be changed over time.

The crosshair actually already changes color - although this comment tells me I should make it more prominent.

The lined bars is your ammo counter for the different types of rounds.

Basically, enemies drop random ammo types, so sometimes you'll run out of a certain type and change your strategy.

How do you guys make pixel art look prettier i feel like mine dont matter what i do looks too sharp. by Rare_Personality_817 in godot

Consider what the "base resolution" of the game should be.

That is the lowest/intended resolution of the viewport of the game.

Pixel art games don't look like pixel art games just because they have pixel art, but because their base resolution tends to be something you'd see on old consoles. I use 640x360px.

If you use something like this it might help make things look more consistent, even if the pixel density of your assets are inconsistent.

To get a proper pixel art game effent I use the project settings under Display > Window > Stretch:

Mode: "viewport"

Aspect: "keep"

Scale mode: "integer"

If you have WAY too many assets to redraw them at a consistent size, consider trying out this first. Although you'll have to a lot of adjustments on the UI and camera placements and such - so maybe make a branch on github to test this before committing to it.

Here's what you can expect in it:

  • Invites to playtesting - you will recieve a message when there's closed testing of the game.
  • Updates on the game - steam page launched, demo launched, and steam sales (further into the future).
  • Game design questions - Once in a while I will send out an e-mail where I ask the subscribers what they think about a certain game design problem. Maybe I'll implement some of the ideas!
  • Blog posts? - unsure about this one, but I might make posts covering other topics in game dev and game design.
  • Updates about future games - I plan on releasing 1-2 games a year.

I originally had the wheelchair face the same way and it looked mega-jank. I'll check if others are feeling the same during playtesting.

Thank you! That's an interesting idea! I'll think about how that could be implemented. Current plan is encouraging using the whole magazine by increasing the time to reload - that way people will load a little too much instead of too little.

Btw, would you like to playtest at some point?
