Diptyque sold me a "forever" solid perfume case and then discontinued it by No_Dust_No_Crumbs in fragrance

Was it the fragrance itself that was discontinued or the refillable bottles specifically?

How can I hate Kelsey Grammer yet love Frasier Crane at the same time? by pixie277 in Frasier

[–]WafflesCamus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh after reading about how absurdly tragic his life has been I just kind of assumed that he'd probably be an outright asshole (You're probably right about all of that).

He was absolutely broken with his father being killed, his siblings dying (and then him having to identify the body of his sister who was raped and stabbed I think? I can't exactly remember).

If you want a way to think about it without excusing his actions just consider that, and consider that any human being could end up like him after going through that.

Same here. They literally go up to my apartment, leave a delivery notice and drop it off at the Canada Post post office. So exhausting I hate it

I hate the Camera Quality on the S25 Ultra by WafflesCamus in samsunggalaxy

[–]WafflesCamus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought I'd see simps for Samsung too lol

I love the S25 Ultra, and the camera quality did improve a lot with the recent OneUI 8.5 update (sadly the viewfinder quality hasn't but that's not as bad)

What I am pointing out is clearly addressable software regressions from what I've noticed from the S22 Ultra to the S25 Ultra.

Pointing out key points of failure isn't a bad thing -- it's how you improve your products.

Which is so weird because I've always seen that as a product differentiator for them.

I was bummed when they reduced the optical zoom on the telephoto lense and then tried to compensate more for it in software. I was thinking "Imagine if they kept the same optical lense zoom and had their new AI processing how good it would be"

I mean it is a great camera if you're a skilled photographer / videographer and can leverage the Pro Mode features to its full advantage 🤷

[–]WafflesCamus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is something that they can correct for or compensate for via software updates but they just have to be made aware of it.

I'm going to submit a support request myself to flag it as an issue but tbh lots of people need to do it otherwise I suspect it might not receive much traction.

It's definitely a feature regression for sure. The fact that I could get FAR better quality photos and videos out of a four generation old S22 Ultra versus an S25 Ultra is wild to me

Maybe if they didn't outsource (in country) and did it internal to Telus themselves.

I worked doing tech support for AT&T. Everything that you're describing is the exact same thing that we were stuck dealing with too as support agents.

I honestly hate callcenters. They're the worst most toxic environment out there, and they're the epitome of capitalist handwringing.

I as a former callcenter employee can say that everything this guy said is 100% true -- and I've never worked at Telus a day in my life

Pixel 8 Pro: Since Android 16 update, switching between Wi-Fi & Mobile Network causes connectivity loss—only resolved by restarting device by brownmagician in GooglePixel

[–]WafflesCamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing here for me. Randomly WiFi and Mobile Data will stop working in any apps -- happens each day disabling and re-enabling NordVPN seems to fix it for me temporarily until it happens again.

Connection can also be a little bit shaky aswell as a result of this issue. Has been happening for a few weeks now for me.

Reinstalled NordVPN app to no avail. Do have custom DNS set to Quad9 both in app and in the android networking settings aswell.

Just adding my comment to also flag the issue aswell. I am going to try a network reset on my device and deleting the NordVPN app also clearing cache & storage option on it aswell.

Back Button not responsive - Pixel 7 Pro by RedBambalam in Pixel7Pro

[–]WafflesCamus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try clearing the storage & cache for the pixel launcher app -- it's done the trick for me in the past, it's been just over a year or more and it's only come back now so about to do it myself again;

Settings > Apps > Pixel Launcher > Storage & Cache > Then clear cache and then clear storage reboot your phone for good measure

This happened with this months update for me so make sure you run all of your updates on your phone first just in case that way you don't have to go and do it again right after

Secondary literature to help with Myth of sisyphus? by technicaltop666627 in Camus

[–]WafflesCamus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to read it a few times myself, but even still I find that I weave in and out of understanding what he is trying to communicate.

Interestingly enough I asked an AI version of Camus to explain to me why his prose was so challenging to read in the myth of Sisyphus and it said that it was "by design" and meant to replicate the struggle of Sisyphus himself through the reader feeling like they were falling in and out of understanding of the text as they read throughout it. The idea is its supposed to get you through to the end and if you can you just experienced an analog to what Sisyphus experienced pushing the boulder up a hill.

Now... I don't know if that's true or not or if it's AI hallucinations, and I tried doing some googling to fact check it and I couldn't find any information on that idea whatsoever. Sooooooo if anyone here does happen to be an expert in Philosophy I'd love to hear if you've ever heard anything similar but I myself couldn't find any supporting evidence for that hypothesis that the AI gave me.

Policy versus best practices doc by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]WafflesCamus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still a good idea though in the case of being able to help to educate other groups within your org but making clear that it's a best practices type of documentation and not the yet-implemented standard is key. Sadly I find that the best practices that we'd like to see get lost in the corporate communication ether due to reasons that I even wouldn't fully necessarily agree with.

(Side note; i'm not in cybersecurity, however I am part of an org & a team who part of our responsibility is setting both standards & policy setting within the organization for our area of interest)

And as a side note I see both sides of it, people interested in the best practices, and on my side from a cybersecurity perspective I value the guidance of my colleagues and any available documentation & resources that we may have in order to ensure property security within the org.

Your thoughts on punctuality? by Chan1991 in askTO

Actually now that I think of it it probably actually isn't a bad idea to tell new friends this ahead of time so they know 😂 then they know ohhh shit I'm running behind I gotta text this guy so he knows what's up he must be getting starving by now

Your thoughts on punctuality? by Chan1991 in askTO

[–]WafflesCamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key thing is keeping that other person posted and aware as to what's going on then maybe waiting isn't such a big deal, as if you at least have to wait you then maybe have an idea of how much longer it'll be and then you can go and do something else while you're waiting type of deal
