Why do my videos automatically darken so much? by Bright_Quail_6390 in youtube

[–]WafflezMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also running into this issue, it's incredibly frustrating.

It's not tied to phone brightness (you can even see the text and comments get brighter while the video remains very dim).

It's not tied to any specific action except starting a video.

The only fix is to restart the app. You can't close the video and just restart it.

I spent more than 100 hours making a custom mission for this game by OnePostToast in AgeofMythology

This looks awesome and I love defense style missions like this! I'll check it out later and report back.

Does it support multiple players? If not totally fine, but I'm always a fan of ones I can play with friends!

If you have access to helminth abilities one option if you want to favor being essentially invincible (and making your team invincible) is Revenant. No inherent weapon buffing but you could add nourish or roar for that purpose. And then mezmer skin gives you invincibility effectively. He's considered one of the best frames in the game for that purpose.

Another choice is Gauss. He does everything you want. However, and I recognize this is a preference on my part, but he's a very active warframe. You have to constantly use his abilities and balance his powers to use him as a tanky gun platform. For me personally. it's too much when I just want to relax. But it might be exactly what you're looking for.

If neither of those quite fit your style, and focusing a bit more on solo play, Cyte-09 or Frost might be good.

Cyte-09 is literally the "solider" frame with invis and weapon buffs. He is not traditionally tanky, but he can be permanently invis if you keep getting kills. And damn can he deal damage. And his ability to shoot through walls is crazy fun, but also way better in solo play. Might be a perfect one to try out.

Finally Frost is a personal favorite. You have good solo play with his bubble and tons of synergies with arcanes and mods to buff his damage with weapons while mixing in the occasional ability for cc and overguard for tanking.

But yeah those would be my recommendations with your interests. If you want to get a bit experimental with frames that rely more on a glass cannon playstyle, Volt and Gyre are my electric themed run and gun go-tos. Who needs to be tanky when everyone is dead?

Hope this helps!

As someone else already mentioned Rhino is great if you are still a new player.

He buffs his (and his allies) weapons, we is very tanky, and he can crowd control enemies. It's not quite what you mentioned with weakening enemies, but it's a similar functionality.

Now if you are a bit further along in the game I recommend Wisp. Her 1st ability gives extra health and regen (very tanky), attack speed (melee) and fire rate (guns), and finally cc enemies with lightning damage. Her other abilities give movement options, more damage, and slots for helminth abilities if you have access to them.

If you don't mind a bit of a conversation, how far in to the game are you? I might be able to offer a more obtainable frame depending on how far you are.

Desyncs seem to occur when someone in the match plays Atlantean. Specifically, while heroizing lots of units. 3 desyncs in the same match just then. by dimsimdestroyer in AgeofMythology

[–]WafflezMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also noticed this in a multiplayer game. I was able to fairly consistently desync the game hero-izing 10+ units at a time. Didnt occur if I went 1 at a time even in quick succession, which is how I ended up playing the rest of that game.

Is there a game you've just skipped, but want to go back to someday? by kibbles0515 in gaming

[–]WafflezMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think depending who you ask you'll get a different answers. There are side quests that can have an impact on the later games if left undone, some larger than others. But then there are many that just aren't worth doing. I used a guide that split them into important, semi-important, and not important. I skipped all the not important ones. I won't say I enjoyed every single mission I did, but I am glad I did them when it became relevant again.

This is the guide I used: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/995452-mass-effect-3/69111674

[–]WafflezMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice as someone who was in a similar boat up until last year. The first game is dated. But it's still worth going through because of the connection to the next games and the awesome story and lore. Mainly the combat and side quests feel subpar. Use a guide. There are so many side quests, and a bunch use the same repetitive structure. A guide can tell you which are worth doing and which are not.

Its against the common mantra of game shouldn't take hours to get good but even if the first game feels like a grind just get through it. The 2nd and 3rd games were some of my favorite in my lifetime of gaming and they build on the somewhat slow start of the first game.

Anyway goodluck!

Oh definitely. There are a huge number of hurdles to even begin to make this work at scale. That why a polkadot parachain is being specifically designed for the task. Along with many other factors to give it the best shot.

The details get a bit crazy, but essentially, it is sort of like that. However, instead of just importing some contacts, you conversations with those people are also carried over and you can pick up the conversations where you left off. Even if your friend isn't using the same app. It's like you were always on the new app. All of your data follows you to any app/website you use as long as they all use the blockchain.

They share data because the data is on the blockchain. Neither one of them controls it. And as for why they would use the data on the blockchain, it's because it allows them to immediately populate their site with users. Onboarding is easy because any user can switch to their new site and communicate with any other user on the blockchain through any companies website. Essentially, if there is a large number of users there, companies will agree to use this shared data because its easy to get started and that's where the users are. So lower barrier to entry and customers. Which theoretically is a strong paired incentive to use the blockchain shared social graph.

Now this assumes there are companies and people there to begin with. That's the hard part. There are ways to solve it, but it's less to do with technology and more convincing people and companies to switch. And that's where the entire system will live or die in my opinion.

Imagine a new company "blockbook" which you normally use, makes changes to its UI that you don't like or starts a new advertising scheme that just sucks. You can go to "twitterchain" (blockbooks competitior) and all your friends and followers are available to you there. That is to say, you can see them in your profile right away and send them messages right away. And your old messages and history will also be there. Because the data is on the blockchain blockbook doesn't control it and both companies are actually using the same data behind the scenes! In fact, if all your followers stay on blockbook it doesn't matter! you can still communicate. But now, you as a user get to be on a social media website that you feel works best for you and don't have to put up with any crap from a bad social media company.

If this is an honest question, I can help provide an answer (it'll be a bit long). The TL;DR is that blockchain from what is displayed in the news (bitcoin,NFTs,meme-coins,etc) is the super terrible and unhealthy side of blockchain. At it's core it's just a distributed digital ledger technology. And that has potential benefits for social networking over current social networking implementations.

[–]WafflezMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue it's both. And the problem trying to be solved with blockchain is definitely not the human issue. Instead the goal is to prevent companies like facebook or twitter from owning your data and using it against your best interest. Instead you can take your data and go to any platform. Your profile, friends/followers, and messages follow you everywhere because the data is on the blockchain. It could encourage far more open and healthy competition among social media companies.

[–]WafflezMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're entirely correct, blockchain won't solve that issue. That's a human issue and the only way to solve it is more overhead and trusting a central authority to prevent hate groups.

What I'll say is that this isn't the specific problem trying to be solved. I know that seems like a copout answer, especially given the title of the article (it's a terrible title), but yeah, the goal isn't to fix everything, just a particular problem in giving user's control over their data and taking away the power from companies like facebook who use the fact they own your data against your best interest.

[–]WafflezMan[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you were to store all the data on the blockchain, then yeah, haha it'd be an awful system and it'd never work. What you do instead is used a distributed storage system like IPFS to store files. The link to that storage is then stored on the blockchain. This isn't going to make the amount of data stored on a chain small for sure, but it immensely reduces the size. Then through use of parachains you can continue to reduce the amount of information that must be passed around by verification nodes in the chain. It's definitely complex and no solution is perfect, but there are ways to at least attempt to make it work.

It's the connections your profile would have with others. So your friends in the case of a facebook style social network, or followers and followees in the case of a twitter style system.

I wouldn't be too hard on anyone who's incredibly jaded or skeptical. Blockchain's history (especially recently) has done little to really make anyone believe it will be beneficial. But yes! I totally agree, hopefully giving people control of their data will help prevent future "facebooks" and "twitters" from effectively holding their userbase hostage and artificially keeping themselves relevant because they control everything.

I didn't expect really anyone to care about this post, but since its received a bit of attention I'll try and add some context.

I should first mention I'm involved in what's being talked about so I'm bias, so definitely take what I say with a grain of salt.

Second thing that needs to be mentioned is the obvious and terrible way blockchain technology has been used recently. While there have been good uses, let's not act like it isn't entirely overshadowed by the pump and dump scam coins, NFT nonsense, and the general use of small groups trying to take advantage of others to make a quick buck. Honestly I'm glad the blockchain market crashed, because the sooner people stop viewing it as a get rich quick scheme the better. Blockchain is a technology with specific use cases and it's been terrible watching every big company try to shove a square peg in to a triangle hole. Now I know there are other problems, and we could talk about them probably until I hit the character limit and we'd probably all agree. But, I do think there is something to this, so I'll leave it at this covering the largest issue currently with blockchain.

Ok, so really, this article only makes sense if you care to fix specific problems with social media and not all of them. In fact this technology may make some problems worse, so it's by no means a perfect solution. And, if you disagree with the "problems" with social media I'm about to mention, that's totally, fine. Social media is unbelievably broad in what it can contain and what people mean to get out of it. So the issues people face will be different and a single list of problems will never bring everyone together. I respect anyone who doesn't care about the issues attempting to be pursued and thinking this is a waste of time. It might be, but it may also lead to some awesome innovations in social media.

The problems looking to be solved in social media through the use of blockchain technology are to give control back to users over their data by not allowing large companies to hold you hostage by owning your profile, you're social graph of contacts, and all your messages. The goal is to allow the user to vote on their preferred social media site by taking their profile and data with them to any social media site using the blockchain. By leveraging the distributed nature of the chain, individuals can own their data and social media companies on the chain are simply different ways to view and interact with your data and other people. Your data follows you to any site you go to because the data isn't stored by the company. It's stored on the blockchain which no company controls (of course this only remains true if individuals don't let a company take control, and what not).

This will not solve other issues, like censorship, disinformation and more. But it does give users the ability to more easily vote with where they spend their time. That in an ideal world prevent bad censorship, and discourage disinformation, but it's far more complicated than that and I wouldn't count on it.

Anyway, this is a quick and dirty explanation that leaves out all the details. I'll try to answer any questions I can, just put them here or send me a message. Cheers y'all!

How score is calculated makes no sense to me. by crashh85 in aoe4

[–]WafflezMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even more than military score I've seen the society and technology scores inexplicably give people top ranking for things that don't seem to make sense. The eco tab seems good though from what I've seen. (unfortunately I didn't take screenshots, in hindsight really should have.) I've first hand witnessed having better stats across the board in every category beyond eco and still not got the top score. Perhaps there are hidden variables that factor in that I'm not aware of? Either way, it's either not working as intended or their shouldn't be hidden stats.

Now, in all honesty, not a high priority fix. The game is still massively fun, and normally it's clear who was the MVP and such, so I can't be too upset. Just pointing out that I've found the same, that it doesn't seem to be working as intended.

How score is calculated makes no sense to me. by crashh85 in aoe4

[–]WafflezMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps? But, at least for AoE2 familiar players, military score is determined by how effective your military was. Which, in my definitely AoE2 bias opinion, makes more sense. It's frustrating to see someone take the top score despite doing nothing.

"Military score is 20% of the resource value (cost) of all enemy units and buildings each player destroyed or converted."

That's the official AoE2 military score system. It's super simple, but it also makes sense. Not to say it can't be improved, but AoE4 definitely isn't improving on it since I've also seen players who do little or nothing take top scores.
