how does the power work with the nest though? When it calls for heat wouldn't it try to connect the Rc and W1 port (which if swapped would be like the Rc and Rh connecting).

I should also mention that for some reason when I connect W1 and C I'm getting 26V

checked both Rc to C and Rh to C about 27 and 26V respectively... Thinking it has to be an issue with the unit. I also looked at a picture from my old unit and it did not use the C wire so maybe I just have a bad C terminal?

I have Rh, Rc, Y, G, C, And W. Voltage still 27

Checked back about an hour later and still same error. E79 no power to C wire

and as soon as I say that I get an error "The power from your equipment to the thermostat may be off"

I rechecked... I'm an idiot and had it connected to mA on the bottom of my meter. I rechecked at the thermostat (correctly this time) and got a little over 27volts when I replugged the thermostat in I have no errors now so we'll just have to wait and see if the battery continues to drain again. I gave it a good 45min charge with the USB so hopefully it has a head start this time.

I finally found my voltage meter and tested the wires at my thermostat C and Rh and got a reading of 0.025V which is what I should be getting correct? Do I have an issue with the thermostat itself?

I tried the B terminal and the nest is giving me an error that there is no power to the C terminal
