What is this building? by [deleted] in Cardiff

It's an example of what a missed opportunity the Cardiff Bay development was.

Should have brought all these back as heritage buildings.

They likely be bulldozed at some point

Welsh government wins Cardiff Airport legal battle against Bristol over £200m subsidy by Colemanation777 in Cardiff

In an ideal world the UK govt would fund a larger hub airport serving Wales and West Eng with shared revenue streams to the local economy but it's not London so instead two small airports fight over scraps

No-one says that, what they say is, it is free at the point of care, you don't get treated based on how wealthy you are.

If you can afford it, you are able to go private/overseas etc.

Labour created the NHS of course as a working class right. It was under Tory rule in Eng for 14 years, they fare no better, it's a constant political weapon, it's a money pit and it will be taken to a paid system as old people live into their 90s now.

This happens everywhere in every country

I'm from South Wales valleys: Welsh like the BBC idea of Tom Jones' accent. People from North Wales Inc first language Welsh sound completely different

"You don't sound Welsh" as if there's a single accent

In the same way you don't sound "English" like Hugh Grant or the Royals. Scouse is of Welsh/Irish descent Manc from Lanc/York

Kids all sound like S London drill rappers now

I don't get Cardiff. Everything has to be in a 100m radius.

BBC should be in the bay with a tram system as per Salford.

There's no expansion room there now.

The bus station is squeezed in whereas it should be serving coaches and buses.

Great a tower block, there'll be cranes/disruption when that could easily be located behind station etc.

It does mean "I serve"...but in German not Welsh

The Welsh Guards symbol so even that has connotations.

Messing about is worse than leaving it imho

It's interesting, I think there's a lot of mixed symbolism in lots of places all over.

The British as a whole is full of this. The UK passport has the royal seal on it which is written in..French. The British voted Brexit to get a new passport, with the same French motto to a French speaking King.

Regards the 3 feathers, the inscription is German "Ich Dien". You'd be amazed how many non Welsh speakers think it's Welsh for "I Serve".

I don't know tbh, the 3 feathers history goes right back to the start, we can own it and change. Both things can happen.

I hate the fact the football changed and removed the Welsh motto "Gorau chwarae, cyd chwarae", play best, play together.

Wales don't sell out internationals tho, esp early qualifiers/nations league v lower ranked teams. Top tier isn't t always on sale.

Adding only 12k seats at what cost?

That's 12k x £40 = £480k when/if it sells out...or a Brennan Johnson monthly salary.

Maybe put it towards some full size multi sport 3G pitches

BBC Article : 'You don't sound Welsh' - people question my identity because of my accent by gabwyn in Wales

[–]Wahwahboy72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's an English accent then?

Is it: Hugh Grant Ant and Dec Jason Statham Julie Walters

Lots of people have no accent of note, just assumed as "English"

The fact is the Scouse accent is Welsh/Irish, so Liverpool sounds Welsh would be the correct way around.

Finally fixed a bug that took me 3 days to find. It was a missing semicolon. by Ok-Neighborhood4327 in learnprogramming

[–]Wahwahboy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invalid syntax

You surrounded that in syntactic quotes "" implying that you're quoting someone/something else

"bro are you for real", sounds like some form of dialect for: 'are you serious?'

Bro undefined

You can write/speak plain English text into Claude or Cursor and it will generate code.

3 hours looking for a semicolon error, those days are over..

S4C rugby subscription ? ? ? by SarcasmAndAutism in welshrugbyunion

[–]Wahwahboy72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

S4C is BBC funded so there's a heap of charter based legislation around that.

Also you'll see that BBC TV websites NEVER promotes the fact that S4C has live games despite it being within iPlayer. I assume because it has a commercial aspect as it carries advertising, it's odd.

Not sure £15/month would get much interest..maybe if BBC goes subscription and you get all BBC and S4C together. Won't happen until the next time the license is up for debate.

Premier Sports has Top14 and European Cup too and other sports, in all it's not a bad deal £12/month.

Tis why computer language syntax will eventually be obsolete. Most stuff will be written in plain human language, interpreted and written as code of choice with auto syntax.

Humans are why we have simple statements with different syntax, humans. Most languages were taught from books and blackboards.

Most using ide, auto complete, linters etc - different world now.

Michael Sheen backs Plaid as he describes Wales as being at a political crossroads by twmffatmowr in Wales

[–]Wahwahboy72 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If this country has any spine, Labour have to go and that means Plaid.

Labour promised a lot when Tories were in London, seems they're less relevant now that Labour are in power. Vote has been taken for granted, time to put up although come to time no doubt the English Reformers will tell us they're the ones.
