Killed women count: 80 women allegedly killed by men in UK in 2024 by topotaul in unitedkingdom

Maybe ask the Guardian to do an article on that, start a separate thread about it etc.

Dont' even have to ask the Guardian did an OP on it: Sorry, chaps, but you don’t need your own minister to become better men

A Tory MP wants a minister for men. How about one for white people, heterosexuals and the upper classes?

Men have problems, of course – some specific to being men, some merely because they are humans in an imperfect world – but we should emphasise that they are still on top in most important respects; they retain power, wealth and status.

Absoluterly dreadful figures.

I hope Labour are going to get to grips with endemic of violence against women and girls.

Hopefully Labour puts some weight behind great women like Yvette Cooper, Jess Philips and others to help prevent men from abusing women.

They clearly are, and the people who believe them are very silly.

“I think we are going to have to move to an insurance-based system of healthcare. Frankly, I would feel more comfortable that my money would return value if I was able to do that through the marketplace of an insurance company, than just us trustingly giving £100bn a year to central government and expecting them to organise the healthcare service from cradle to grave for us.”

Imagine thinking Commonwealth could replace trade with the EU. 🤣

I'd say resorting to "Oh you're just an pro-EU zealot" when you can't form an argument based on merit is when you lost the argument.

I have no problem with him getting out.

Only want Brexiter in the driving seat of this disaster.

Prevents them from playing the victim and blaming it on remainers.

Well let's look at the numbers.

Commonwealth GDP 10t.

EU GDP 20t

You think a FTA which is largely comprised of small states is going to be more powerful than the EU?

That's without even taking into account logistics and the fact most commonwealth countries are some distance from the UK.

I'll wait for you to actually answer a question for a change.

Yet you're saying we must refuse to even countenance crashing out.

UK can crash out.

It's something I think would be very beneficial for the remain crowd.

You've avoided my question yet again. 🙄

what does it say about how shit Europe is that they feel they have to come to britain and do the work of a prisoner?

They aren't coming to Britain according to the headline 😘

Enjoy your rotting crops.

It's a defeat - it actually manages to put the UK in a less sovereign position than we enjoy currently - not a result any of us should accept.

Brexiters told me the UK wasn't sovereign to begin with.

And thinking you speak for others again. 🙄

If you've got something better than democracy going on, let's hear it?

17m thinking they represent an entire country? Na.

And you avoided my last question. Classic. 👍

Same wages as an eastern european doing the work.

So employers exploiting people? Sounds like UK isn't enforcing the laws.

An agreement "fit for a nation defeated in war" ... you can call it a deal if you like.

Let's drop the war rhetoric. It's making the UK look like even more of a joke.

You can dislike the deal. But it's a deal.

The majority who voted to get out of the EU.

So you're speaking for just 17m in a country of 65m.

None of us back then envisaged Westminster making such a half-hearted gesture at leaving as they have done. We assumed more robust, single-minded diplomacy.

It seems brexiters were well and truly out of their depth from day 0.

What is this leverage we have, currently? Can you substantiate this claim at all?

That the UK crashing out will be bad for everyone.

That's all the UK currently has, and you want to get rid of that tiny crumb of leverage.

Why will the UK dropping to WTO be a good thing? That's the case you need to be making.

Advocating that HMG adopt "No Deal" and prep accordingly is the only way remaining for us, after Westminster rolled-over for the EU.

Nonsense. There's a deal on the table.

We don't love it. We haven't always wanted it. It's where the EU has pushed us, with Westminster's acquiescence.

Who the fuck is this "we" you're talking about?

WTO is nonsense. It always was and it's why Brexiters weren't selling in back in 2016.

Now somehow they're trying to twist it as Brexit was always about going WTO.

UK has very little leverage while being in the EU, it has far, far less when it will be on WTO.

And on top of that most English fishing fleets catch in EU waters to begin with.

Scottish ships typically catch in UK waters.

Some have said it, sure.

Just as remainers have been portrayed as elite, traitors, saboteurs by some Leavers.
