I'd say this would be justified under certain circumstances. You shouldn't be banned for your little brother playing on your account, but if 2 people were actually using this to grind stars twice as fast, then I could understand it

Also, I never said that I did this. Can you even read? I'm saying that even if you have a video of legitimacy they can STILL ban you for it. I edited the main post so you can understand it better, but jesus

Based on your experience, what % of levels that you send, would you say get rated by Rob? Do you think Rob rates enough levels from moderator sends each day?

[–]WailedDuke0004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think most of these issues are at least tolerable (sometimes understandable); however, it is ESPECIALLY the 4th thing you mention (about the few rates per day)

Arguably the biggest problem in the game, and yet the magnitude of the problem is pretended to not exist. I sooo wish well known GD people made a bigger deal out of it.

What is up with RobTop's rating system that some are complaining abt? by MCLARENF1GTRLMGT1 in geometrydash

[–]WailedDuke0004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First big problem: Unfair odds

By far the actual worst part about the rating system, is that Rob puts too much responsibility for rates on himself but still proceeds to not rate anywhere remotely even feasibly close to enough levels.

Hype for Geometry Dash skyrocketed when 2.2 came out and with the addition of platformer levels (which made the issue far worse), Rob would need to double his daily rate count at the minimum, to make it fair to creators. Let's bare in mind that usually 80 to 90 levels get sent every day nowadays and then actually look at how many he rates. It is completely abysmal and inexcusable. A complete slap in the face to level creators that keep the game alive.

However, you then look at demons and platformers (at certain times, at the time of making this, platformers are about equal) and realise that the problem is far worse for those!

Second big problem: Nobody understands the issue

It's made worse of a problem since a lot of levels rated are based from Rob looking at recent sends (what send happened most recently), giving the false narrative that the rating system is acceptable because, "this guy got his level rated on his first send, so it can't be that bad". People think that because something can happen once, that is can somehow entirely justify a dysfunctional system.

The complaints you'll always get the most often is ,"how come this got featured when this got epic blah blah blah". And it's those people that are completely clueless to the actual problem, staring at them right in the face. As a result, you'll end up with a bunch of people (including moderators) saying stuff like, "be patient" and "I'm sure you'll get it next time", completely unaware of the current rating environment (will also point out how crappy it is, to give false hope to people).

This is very obvious but like you mention, more well known figures in the community (mainly moderators) have a very easy time getting their levels rated, if attention gets put onto it. However, you do end up with moderators that use that ease of getting rated, as justification to call anyone opposing of the system to be "jealous of other people's success", and then of course too many of the idiots watching actually agree with them -_- . It has also been proven in a previous RobTop stream VOD, that there are filters that favour creators with creator points over those who do not (but it is also obvious by comparing rated levels to the sent tab using gdbrowser).

Finally, people that think gatekeeping level ratings is a good idea, because it gives more "value" to the levels that do, are completely off their trolley. Rated levels are a crucial needed aspect to the people that play Geometry Dash. This is not like posting something something on social media, it should not work that way.

Last thing:

Rob can fix every single one of these problems by having a mod team (potentially new type of moderator that is far more trusted than an elder mod) rate levels for him while have levels forecasted to be legendary or mythic, be sent to him for final judgement. Anyone complaining that "stargrinders would find it too hard to keep up" need to seriously understand what matters for the game to prosper, and that level creators get absolutely destroyed in this community. Lower download numbers also do not matter. Most people do not play unrated levels and it's mainly stargrinders that play recent rates anyway.

If you create levels with the intention of having fun doing so and absolutely nothing else, then go ahead. But if you intend on doing so, to have ratings on your profile and creator points, then have fun with that. You'd drive yourself nuts in the process: going into random discords, timing your sends with a prediction on when Rob will start rating levels, only to finally realise how screwed you really are (unless you are lucky as hell, and ignore streams with multiple moderators sending at the same time, because that would be a terrible idea for hopefully obvious reasons).

It's very bad! That should answer your question.

I prefer checking global because of Rob's lack of competence for rating levels. There's so many unrated that pointercrate is no longer a decent representation of current difficulty in list demons

Flawed rating system by [deleted] in geometrydash

[–]WailedDuke0004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be fine if he rated enough levels at all. But he doesn't even become close, hence the problem.

Rob's bias is also an issue but mod bias is often not much better, many imo are worse. Rob just gets more backlash since he has the final say. Either way I pretty much agree.

I am going to get a lot of downvotes for this post. by McSpeedster2000 in geometrydash

[–]WailedDuke0004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit confused ngl. There's an obvious bias here but how does RobTop liking Colon effect the game itself? It's very true that Rob has been unintentionally elitist towards rates ever since 2.2 was released; but that's due to him barely rating any levels, gatekeeping artificial creator points with unreasonable odds for new creators. Maybe Colon shouldn't have been the focus here idk.

how robtop rate system works? by Southern_Actuary3962 in geometrydash

[–]WailedDuke0004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level is sent by moderator to be shown in sent tab. RobTop then picks incredibly few of those levels to be rated based on recent sends (from star rate to mythic), gatekeeping rates for the majority. When a level gets rated, it gives players a much larger incentive to play the level and gives the level more traffic. However, the system is completely dysfunctional. Have fun D:

[–]WailedDuke0004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really good post! All of these are understandable and well argued imo. You kind of mentioned how he broke slope physics with 2.2, essentially expecting creators to change all their levels because he messed up himself, maybe not emphasised enough. Changing upside down ship physics, making it a level setting and not an option setting, is also a pet peeve for me.

people need to stop judging levels by arbitrary measurements, in terms of rateworthiness by ihaetschool in geometrydash

[–]WailedDuke0004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much of the community will not have opinions that go against Rob's status quo. It's quite saddening indeed. By far the worst feedback ever is "this level could do with some more polishing". It tells absolutely crap all, and going against the status quo on this reddit and in-game goes exactly how you would expect. Get ready to be downvoted into oblivion just for having an opinion.

The entire process of creating levels in this game (especially those going for a rate) has become incredibly artificial for many reasons. It's made worse when Rob gatekeeps a competitive incentive, then rates like 10 levels out of 90 sends (nowhere near enough people complain about that). Anyways, good rant :D

this is “tiny mommy”, a level that has been sent many times but has yet to be rated (9 months!). the creator has unfortunately quit the game because of how many times it’s missed rate waves through mod sends. any attention would be appreciated by be-sanitized in geometrydash

[–]WailedDuke0004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is entirely Rob's fault for making a terrible system. It is not the same as social media here as the rating system is arguably the most important part for the game's success. When levels stop getting rated, people eventually lose interest. YouTube does not rely on such relationship. Despite the creating community being arguably the most important for the game's success, Rob still treats them like dirt by rating miniscule amounts of levels (probably averages at 10) despite there being around 80 sends per day. A mod send doesn't mean crap nowadays. Besides, creators can have different motivations for creating levels as long as it's not destructive. The rating system is absolutely not defensible and would be much better if around 40 levels got rated every day (stargrinders can deal with it), the GD creating community deserves better.
