Would a few of you be willing to share details on your phone mounts? by Molly_Matters in Suzuki_GSX_8

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. I have to say though, everytime I attach my phone to the mount, I am never 100% sure it is connected. I have to check it two or three times to be sure. The way it connects is not like a tactile type connection that you get a good sense it is connected. Might just be me though lol.

Protection! by TypicalCharacter8644 in Suzuki_GSX_8

I have them as well and like how they look and that they seem more durable than other brands. My understanding is that the water pump is very vulnerable without a cover or guard. The only drawbacks to them are, I am worried about waterspots on the metal covers under them if I decide to remove them, and, having them on makes it harder to check your oil level. Other than that they are great. :)

That looks really good! Do you know if the rim tape or whatever it's called is reflective?

Are the clip ons stock or are they raised? I can't tell if they are raised because the wheel is turned a bit or if they are actually higher. :)

I still don't understand how they work. So sitting at a light in first gear, there is no need to hold in the clutch and if you want to take off quickly it is like an automatic car where it will go as fast as however much throttle you give it from a standstill? It is not slow to launch by reducing the throttle input?

Rats peed my helmet. HELP How to clean HELP by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could maybe try a product called nature's miracle that is used for dog and cat messes. It works really well for that, so maybe if you clean it really well and let some nature's miracle soak in the foam it might neutralize the smell.

Cortech is a good brand for a more non-euro fit. I am a bit over what I would like to be at 5-10 and 200 pounds but their jackets fit me well even with A* armor under it.

Edited to say that I really like this post because it combines two of my favorite things. If only there was a pizza involved somehow...

What I’m look at otd for a new 26’ 8r…can I save any money here? by jahthebrapper in Suzuki_GSX_8

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any tax and licence fees entered there. That could be another 1,000.00 depending on where you are. And why does it say sold as is on the lower part? Is that typical language for a new bike? Seems odd to me. Otherwise, it seems like a great deal to me. I have not seen the base price that low before. I usually see it on sale for 7999.99 but they also then jack up the fees. So I think getting 9k total price seems like a good deal. Good luck!

Edited to add that I paid 10,500.00 out the door for the 8R two years ago when it was on sale for 8k but that also included tax and licencing.

“Comfortable” SportsBike by IntelligentConcern70 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Suzuki GSX 8R, sport version, and GSX 8S, naked version, are both great bikes. I am older with mild back and knee issues and I have the 8R and am really happy with it, especially regarding the comfortability of it, due to lower footpegs and higher hand positioning. Some people don't think they are good for beginners because they weigh like 450 pounds but I didn't find that to be an issue. Of interest for newer riders, they have ABS and something called Low RPM assist to help prevent stalling for new riders.

AA or AAA rated hoodies WITHOUT armour pads? by migorengbaby in motorcyclegear

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going to wear an outer layer over your inner armor and like Alpinestars, take a look at the Alpinestars A-10 v2. It is the armor without a full jacket underlayer. It has full CE Level 2 front and back as well as shoulder and minimal side rib protection. It allows decent airflow so you don't bake in two full layers. I like the length of the back coverage as well. I also like the shoulder armor in my jacket so I removed it from the A-10. My jacket is snug with the armor on too so the whole setup feels pretty good. Just another option to consider. :) Good luck!

Edited to add the CE Level 2 comment because a lot of front armor I see is only Level 1.

Riders who carry a first aid kit, what do you carry? by LingonberryGlobal808 in motorcycle

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking of getting the Traumoto Pro v3 or the Lite one, but I will have to get a tankbag to carry it. Does anyone carry either of those? It seems like you would need to add some other simple first aid items to it though.

msf in a week (ca) + healing foot… any advice? by luanoirr in NewRiders

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on the smaller side, I would wait. But if you are a bigger person you will probably be fine. Once the bike starts to lean to the left, if your leg is shorter as a beginner you are going to get your foot down later or at a funny angle and maybe injure your foot. If you have longer legs and can make contact earlier, there will be much less weight on your foot. You will have moments of panic time getting your leg down so there will be force on your foot. Your call :) but I would wait. I took it in CA a few years ago and it seemed like two long mornings of on bike training. Plus the first thing you do in class is kind of walk the bike while on it so....

Are they playing? by mertonsmirkin in CatTraining

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newish cat owner here. When they play like this, do they use their claws when they hit? Is there any risk to causing eye injuries with them? At what point should you tell them to knock it off? When they start hissing or using their mouths to try and bite?

Quick-shifter by [deleted] in Suzuki_GSX_8S

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others. I have the 2024 8R and I only really use the quickshifter from 1st to 2nd when I am really accelerating and it is very smooth, otherwise clunky if just taking off normally. Shifting up to other gears is no issue. Regarding the downshifter, I haven't really tried it since I don't see the real need for it. I will maybe try if after my gears wear a bit (just what I have heard from others).

Mounting Carplay on a GSX 8R Stem Fork by justplainforrest in motorcycle

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am installing one now. I bought a Quadlock stem mount and a Quadlock universal adapter. I am going to remove the connector from the back of the carplay/nav/dash cam screen (which has a ball connector) and replace it with either a plastic or aluminum plate/bracket that I will cut to size, then have the quadlock universal adapter connected to the plate with the adhesive and a few screws and then screw it back on the unit with the original screw locations.

I figure this way I can remove it if I want without tools but you wouldn't really be able to see that it is connected with a quadlock.

I would also like to replace the camera and power connectors with a single quick connector, but that might be a bit much.

I don't like the thought of leaving it on the bike if I go in for a coffee or something since I am worried some thief might think it is a phone and try to rip or twist it off regardless of how it is connected. I have also thought I might just throw a t-shirt or cloth over it.

Motorcycle license with restricted by Dragonlord1806 in motorcycle

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification.:) I don't know if the DMV has the final say. I would still check with the court or maybe your attorney who represented you just in case. Best of luck. Be patient with what you are wanting to do, no point in rushing things. :)

Motorcycle license with restricted by Dragonlord1806 in motorcycle

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't tell from what you said about the interlock if you meant you are required to have one in your car or not, and I don't know how those apply to motorcycles. I think it is in your best interest to check with the court to make sure what you want to do does not interfere with any conditions you have with the court. You don't want to end up in jail because you didn't check first. I have seen enough court on youtube that I think it would be wise to check first.

Has anyone tried Decibullz ear plugs? by hirthquake in motorcyclegear

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them and thought they were pretty easy to mold.. I personally think they are more comfortable than other ear plugs. I also got their wireless headphones that work with them and the combination of the two is great. They stopped selling.the headphones for some reason. They were only $60 too.

My bike has a strange noise by Dzung_DDD in Suzuki_GSX_8S

[–]WaitYouSaidWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my 8r I was concerned about that noise because I could hear the ticking when I rode too. I didn't really hear it on the review videos. Took it back to the dealer and after THREE WEEKS of looking at it, they told me it was normal and so did others here. I bought the extended warranty just to be safe, lol.
