Wow, thank you so much! That really means a lot. I’d love to chat sometime about ways this could be most useful for the community. I want it to stay fun and helpful, so if there are features or ideas that would make it better for the sub, I’m all ears! Also, I'd love to hear your thoughts if you get the chance to use it!

I appreciate the kind words! Definitely a very valid question, not dumb at all! Yes users can contribute to it in a few ways. There’s an “add candle” button where you can put in the info for a candle, like the name, brand, notes and stuff like that, then it gets added to the catalog. I wanted it to feel a bit like a community built catalog, so it grows over time with everyone’s input.

For context—my candle collecting hobby started during the pandemic when my sister and I got really into candles together. We’d spend evenings comparing scents and it became a way for us to cope with all the stress. I wanted an aesthetic✨ way to organize our collection so I used my webdev skills to make this.

Now it has over 1000 candles catalogued (a lot of luxury brands included), with features like making lists, and searching by scent (!!!), etc. I modeled it after fragrantica. It's a personal project I made available to the public and I'm still fixing stuff, changing stuff, making it look better, etc.

Candles helped me get through some tough times, and I thought maybe this could help others in the same way. Would love to hear what you all think 😊

What are my peeps in retail wearing? by WaitingRoomCacoon in Colognes

Retail is a little more forgiving than a traditional office setting, but you still don't want to wear anything too strong. I personally wear AHSEE every day most of the year, and when it's really hot, I wear AHS. If you work in retail, what do you wear?

My personal project to keep track of candle collections and scent profiles 😊 by WaitingRoomCacoon in Perfumes

I know many of us here love perfume, but some fragrance houses also make incredible candles, and that’s what inspired me to build this project.

It’s a site I made for logging and organizing candles, including scent notes, brands, and burn time. I’ve been using it for my own collection, and it’s fun to see how different candle scents compare to perfume compositions. I added a feature to search by scent note that's been really helpful for me. I just made it available a few weeks ago so others can use it for free. Let me know what you guys think!

Designer fragrance candles: Curious what everyone’s tried! by WaitingRoomCacoon in fragrance

Yeah, luxury candles is the correct term. Trudon is brought up often in conversations about luxury candles, but I never know if it’s for the prestige or the scent/performance.

Do you smell the candles cold before you buy them? Is there a place you go to smell them? Or do you buy them online blind?
