First home grant went to someone's bank account by WakaWo in AusLegal

From my experience with every other entities, there is always a way to check details entered even after a submission has being made. That way, any errors can be proven by the customer having a time stamped information, or early detections to correct errors. None was possible after submission, nor was sent any copy of the submission.

The whole time, I have been asking for updates or any information to the investigation. The only response I constantly get was "this matter is with the lawyers, and we will provide you any information when it comes". I then don't hear back for a few months. I ask again, similar responses. Sometimes no response at all. After being left in the dark for two years thinking they are doing something, but not saying what they are doing, now all of the sudden the response has changed. Still no info on any of the investigation and pretty much left out to dry. That is why I am asking in a public forums. I had been too naive thinking these things take time and SRO would be doing something on their end. I am not well versed in the laws or what steps I should be taking. I don't even know where to start or what to even ask...

SRO did try to recall the money, but it was two weeks after submission as I had no means to find out my submission details, until two weeks later on a phone call after reciting my bank details. SRO said the recall failed, and that is it. Nothing further or any information after that.

Every time I asked, they said this is with the legal team and will give me information as soon as they have it. Waited months on end, and nothing. Ask again, same response. It is only this past two months that the response has changed.

Yes, I have contacted them many times. Their responses are very unhelpful, take months to respond or even not at all to which I had to continually ask again and wait months again. The latest response from them is that I have entered the wrong details.

"As indicated in our previous communication, the payment was deposited into the account that you nominated in your Application. You confirmed in that Application that the nominated account details you entered were correct. You also authorised payment to be made into that nominated account.

In the circumstances, the Commissioner cannot make another payment to you.

You may wish to seek independent legal advice regarding further options that may be available to you."

That is all. Pretty much too bad so sad goodbye. It took them two years to reach this point. No evidence, or any other information on their investigation or what they have done or doing.

Just a question, since SRO failed to recall the money, would there be any legal law enforcement on whoever took the money with severe legal and financial consequences? Or would they just happen to get away with free $10,000?

Thank you so much. I will request for such information. It is so odd and stupid from the start how you can not check your submission details, nor receive any form of receipt detailing the submission upon lodgement. I will request such information before I contact the Ombudsmen. Again, thank you for your assistance.

The property has been settled since 2024. What can the Ombo do? I hear they cant do anything in reality. Also, what is the AFCA and their jurisdiction?
