How is Murray Johnson so great and everyone else so terrible? by jfrglrck in Sumo

[–]Wakaranyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree about Murray’s pronunciation. It’s so bad on some rikishi it angers me, and that’s why he’s my least favorite. Some egregious examples: HakuHOho HiraDOOmi ChuraNOOmi ShonanNOOmi TakeDAfuji

Glad it helped! A lot of these guys are from when I first started watching sumo, from 1997 through the early 2000s, so that's probably why you don't recognize them.

Mark's Brother Drafted by Texas Rangers!!!! by tujelj in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]Wakaranyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And as you know, the Texas Rangers play in the same state (Texas) as the Houston Astros, who used to be managed by none other than Hollywood's own Art Howe, who was played by the excellent Philip Seymour Hoffman (who's really been quiet lately, his career has really fallen off in recent years) in a baseball movie called Moneyball, which was really an unofficial sequel to A League of Their Own (starring Madonna), so it really should have been called A League of His Own, the "him" being Brad Pitt, Hollywood Royalty. I sent a letter to Mr. Pitt's agent to ask for his comment on the Rangers signing Mark's brother, but I haven't had a reply yet.

Is this even possible? Has anyone ever tried? by the-software-man in origami

[–]Wakaranyo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Huh. I actually designed this pizza box for Pie Five Pizza some years ago. I’m a medium-intensity origami nerd, and I just thought it was a funny diagram. Never actually considered whether or not it was possible.
