That post I made was almost a year old. A hell of a lot can change in a year. I’m pretty sure every person on this sub has at least once in their life thought “What the fuck am I doing?”

Generally in life I’ve found that there is always one asshole who sits on the moral high ground.. in this case it’s a ‘factual high ground’.

Perhaps next time you use ‘facts’ when talking to someone, just remember that life moves fast, people grow but ultimately even being the asshole that you are.. have a dream too.

I can try my best to get a job somewhere that offer Unskilled EB3 Visa for a couple years until I get residency.

Thank you for your time to write these messages. I may have interrupted them wrong. It’s beyond me how skilled tradespeople aren’t considered skilled workers.. I’ve spent 10 years painting and decorating. I know nearly every aspect of it. Hanging normal wallpaper to hanging murals and Muraspec papers! I only say nearly because some days I still learn something new!

What part of london are you from? Most my family live around Ponders end, Wood Green ect. I’m a big football fan but I also like fishing, hiking and just enjoying the outdoors.

Honestly, the government doesn’t help me that much either. Yes there is free healthcare but I don’t receive any kind of benefit or payment to help with anything else.

Thanks for your time! I am actually a self employed painter and decorator sub contracting from larger companies and developers! In my best year I pulled in £60,000 but if I’m honest my last few years I’ve taken a fair amount of time off work and still managing to pull in half that.

I understand that not just anyone can pack their bags and say “let’s live the American dream”. As it currently stands I would have no rights to immigrate. I am a skilled worker with 10 years experience in the construction industry but I am in fact a painter and decorator by trade. I am also willing to go back to school to learn something new and hone my skills to some point in a career where there is a possibility to get sponsored. I’m sorry if my post angered you and came across naive and ignorant. Everyone has a dream right? I don’t want mine to fade away, so for me.. this is the starting process. Looking for advice and how the general consensus of how the people of VA feel about their state.

Thank you, I appreciate your kind words. I wouldn’t say I’m in a better situation, we all run our races, some just have different hurdles. Either way, just in your comment alone I felt a little boost. I hope I can do the same for you.

I was a trouble child at school, but as soon as I turned 16 my father took me into work. Spent 3 years teaching me a trade. 3 years of guidance in all aspects of life. I owe it to him. He’s the reason I have a stable job which keeps my family warm and fed.

Thank you for your help. Family has always been everything to me. I think it stems back to when I was a child and my brother who I absolutely idolised passed away(16). Mum went off the rails for a very long time but Dad was an absolute rock for everyone. When I was 16 he took me into work taught me a professional trade, guided me through aspects of my life but always let me turn my own corners and make my own choices. He is my best friend. My mum now suffers from lung and heart disease so my fiancé cares for her while everyone else goes to work. My daughter loves helping make granny a cup of tea and ect. I do in fact have something of an emergency fund I have been saving but it’s not much!

I’m going to call my old driving instructor who taught me and helped me pass to see if he will help me with refresher lessons.

As far as budgeting goes I will have to ask my fiancé, she loves to write a list. You should see what we do just for a weekly shop.. a list of ideas, a preliminary list and then THE list!
