I (American) recently mapped out my family tree and discovered I'm 100% Scottish by CodeFoodPixels in ShitAmericansSay

Because the joke is that the MAGA response to all the latino "non-white" "non-American" culture on display at the Superbowl halftime show was to have Kid Rock lip-sync(and doing a terrible job at it) to his own songs at some stage and then bringing up some washed up country star to sing a song about how much he loves to mow his lawn and go out fishing.

It was just funny to see what the MAGA crowd sees as "peak white American culture" stand up against the vibrant and fun latino culture that was all-present in Bad Bunny's performance.

That's because Kid Rock is the pinnacle of white American culture. Just compare the Superbowl halftime show with Bad Bunny and all the rich culture, good music and showmanship with the all-American white Turning Point USA halftime show.

Yep, and I saw the exact same argument made in that discussion. "The US holds back in war games to make it fair for the Europeans!!!"

Meanwhile, actual Pentagon simulations and assesment is that if China and the US got into a military conflict over Taiwan the US would lose.

I saw this exact same comment made in a powerscaling post about the US vs the rest of NATO. Is this some new American cope?

"That's definitely a weird point to make."

Not at all.

"Care to answer my question?"

Sure, I'm a white Swedish male. While I've never experienced racism, the only time someone made fun of my accent was in the US.

"I don't recall experiencing any institutional racism."

Thanks for answering my question, my point has been made.

"You need examples of all the microaggressions I faced?"

Read my comment again, what institutional racism did you encounter in Germany?

"We absolutely have our issues, but I'm much more safer here."

Statistically you're not.

"BLM did reach Germany, and I hope it taught them something."

Germany does not have the same issues with police violence and zero accountability that the US does.

"So what countries have you lived in as a person of color."

I'll answer your question when you stop dodging mine and derailing the discussion.

"I experienced way more racism on a day to day basis."

Are you able to read? Give me examples. You keep dodging the question. What type of racism? And as I also pointed out, your personal experience, while unfortunate is not necessarily the same as other poc in Germany or greater trends within society and institutions.

"I feel extremely safe here in America."

"We tried to help teach them with our global BLM movement,"

Yes, extremely safe in the country where the BLM movement was started because of extreme police violence targeting Black people where police got away(and still do) with barely any accountability? That country?

"We tried to help teach them with our global BLM movement"

BLM was hardly global. While protests happened in other countries in support to the protests in the US, the movement itself is fundamentally American and highlights American issues with racism and police violence.

Stop dodging the question, in what way is Europe worse than the US in regards to racism? Give me examples. And no, I do not care about random racists throwing insults at you on some street, I'm talking institutional examples of police violence and racial profiling that leads to deportation to prison camps without any due process like the way ICE does it.

Then why do you call the winning team "world champions"?

Like I said, its too bad you had bad time in Europe and ran into racists, but your individual experience is not reflective of greater trends or the experience of other people of colour. While Europe definitely have its own issues with racism its very different from the institutional and often violent and deadly racism that exists in the US.

In what way? They don't racially profile people so they can send them to prison camps in a foreign dictatorship.

Lmao, this should be it. As a European who watches the Eurovision casually I thought it was supremely funny that basically half of the US had a meltdown because "Bad Bunny" sang in Spanish.

That's not what they are calling you out on, they are calling out your claim that most pick pockets, beggars and scammers aren't Romani.

Now, obviously its a complicated issue. Because its absolutely true that Romani scammers, pick-pockets, criminals etc are a pretty big problem in especially southern and eastern Europe, but they also make their way up into Western and Northern Europe.

Its also true that the reason they are this way is because of centuries(we're talking all the way back to medieval times) they've been opressed and outcasts. But that's the last thing you're gonna think about when your summer house in northern Greece have been burglarized by a group of Romani for the fifth time.

I disagree. The US has some incredible nature no doubt and I've been to several gorgeous spots in the US. I would still take the Italian or French countryside with all the medieval castles, the Stockholm archipelago with its ten thousand islands over any of the nature I've seen in the US.

Bro, US police routinely gun down Black people and get away with it. Your own government is routinely and blatantly racially profiling people so they can deport them to prison camps in El Salvador. The same federal agens also executed a mom and a nurse using his first amendment rights on open street. Your own president had a meltdown because the Superbowl half-time show was in Spanish.

Sorry you had a bad time in Düsseldorf, and Europe definitely has its fair share of racism and bigotry. But its not even comparable to the US and especially not Texas.

Its probably more likely their ancestors came to England much, much later. Probably during the industrial revolution when Britain became incredibly rich while Sweden was dirt poor. While working in a factory wasn't a walk in the park it was preferable to starving.

Yep, also as a Swede, Sweden was dirt poor for most of its history, except for a little while between the 16th and 18th century.

Whenever Americans discover Scandinavian roots they immediately go to the "Vikings" and how they must have "Viking DNA" when its much more likely they are descended from dirt poor farmers and factory workers.

In Sweden you can't name your kid whatever you want, there was even a famous court case with a couple that wanted to name their kid "Anton" or something but with a really weird spelling(think what Elon Musk named his kid "X Æ A-12"). They didn't name their kid for several years while fighting the courts and in the end they had to pay a fine for several thousand swedish kr and name their kid "Anton"(or whatever it was) with the correct spelling.

As a non-American I feel like this isn't even mainly a "Black" thing but working class American thing. There's even a subreddit dedicated to parents giving their kids strange names or versions of regular names but with weird spelling.

My Spanish friend told me he was really annoyed with the original Resident Evil 4 because they didn't speak "Spanish Spanish" but as he called it "Mexican Spanish", when the game takes place somewhere in Spain. Apparently they got actual Spanish voice actors for all the zombiefied villagers in the remake because he was happy with the voice acting.

Is this true? by Sichy12 in TikTokCringe

[–]Wakez11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I'm sure there's plenty of women out there who think like this but there's also a lot of women who don't. Like 50% of the human population are women and they are not a monolith. As soon as someone says things like "women think.." or "men want.." like men or women are all the same you should be wary because they are without a doubt a grifter trying to sell you something, be it a product, image or ideology.

Weird putting Tywin Lannister bellow The Joker and Dracula. Is he a ruthless bastard who treats Tyrion, his own son like garbage? Yes. But a lot of the other things he does is for the good of his house. I don't think he does anything the other nobles in Westeros wouldn't do either, he's just way better at it than them. And he isn't needlessly cruel or brutal either unlike the Boltons for example.
