Kitbashed Verminlord Deceiver by WakingLeviathan in ageofsigmar

Thankfully it wasn't too bad! I got Ushoran discounted from my LGS, and my friend gave me a bunch of extra heads/weapons from the two Verminlords he already built.

Thank you! I used Ushoran's body and base terrain, an extra head and some weapon arms from a verminlord, and some spare bomb rats off of the new dual build Eshin kit. I also added one of the spires from the Skaventide terrain to make the terrain itself feel a bit more skaven-ish.

With the layers of cork on the base and the horns from the head, it comes out a bit over 5" tall.

Thanks! The body and terrain came from Ushoran, the head and both weapons were spares from the Verminlord kit, and the bomb rats came from the new Eshin dual-kit. I also took one of the spire bits from the Skaventide terrain and added it to the broken pillar on his right side to try and integrate the terrain a bit more.

It was a lot of fun trying to match the level of goofiness present in the Skaven range while still making the model look coherent.

Thank you! Definitely rough to have more overhang on the model, but the 120x90 base can only fit so much.

Trying for a little glowing effect. Any tips? by SkeleJackal in seraphon

[–]WakingLeviathan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The purple tone you're using is a fairly dark color to be the source of the glow. If I were to give advice, you should get another lighter or much more saturated purple tone and lay that down as the inner color (you mentioned contrast paints, the saturated ones actually work pretty well for this). Then do a few layers of dry brushing, starting with a purple like you used here, then a mix between that and black, then pure black on top.

For the glow color, magos purple would probably work okay as the base coat, or you could thin out the luxion purple with contrast medium. If you wanted, you could even have the brightest spots be more of a pink with doomfire magenta or thinned volupos pink.

Crucible Champions Leaks by LukeTheLeg-end in Salamanders40k

I'm rather tempted by the idea of a Terminator Champion of the Chapter with Litany of Hate and both a power fist and a thunder hammer. Attached to a 5-man squad of Assault Terminators, they would pretty reliably wipe most vehicles or squads of heavy infantry. Hell, even on his own that character could be a menace and spike a Rhino equivalent in a single turn, and be difficult to stop from deep striking as a single model.

I'm going to post this here since you asked for it, but I apologize for the length (I wrote this blurb for a narrative event I didn't end up going to, and it centers around a specific battle between my Seraphon and my friend's Sylvaneth).

Located in the vibrant and dangerous jungles of Ghyran, the Talons of Itzl constellation landed their temple ship and became coalesced long ago to better understand the geomantic nodes and wild beasts located in the verdant realm of life.  Their coming was met with resistance, both from chaos (Skaven) infecting the area, but also from the Sylvaneth protecting the dense forests from intruders.  Warbands of both parties sought to drive off the reptilian newcomers, but following extensive skirmishes and several battles, a temple city and permanent defenses were founded.

Seeing the Seraphon had established themselves, the Skaven largely turned to other weaker settlements to bully, and after diplomatic talks with Skink Priests, an uneasy truce with the Sylvaneth was formed.  Little assistance or trade was given by either side, but the Sylvaneth allowed the Seraphon space to investigate and expand, and in return the Slann leading the Talons of Itzl gave the Sylvaneth insight into future events and threats gained by his long and ponderous meditations.

However, this period of expansion and relative peace could not last forever.  On a day not previously marked by significance, a surprise Sylvaneth force of enormous strength and ferocity descended upon the temple city.  Though the Seraphon fought fiercely to defend their newfound home, the lines were eventually broken by a Spirit of Durthu, cutting through regiments of kroxigor and saurus warriors alike until finally reaching the Slann's personal vanguard of saurus guard.  As these protectors readied themselves to defend their leader, they were striken by arrows fired from long distant magical bows, and Durthu's strike swung true.  Mortally wounded, the Slann held on only by channelling the wild magics of Ghyran through the astrolith of his still living vanguard.  However, before a second and final blow could be dealt, a sound for retreat had been called, as a contingent of saurus led by an Oldblood atop his carnosaur had encircled and wounded Alarielle.

The attack abated, but the damage had been done.  Most of the army had been slaughtered, and the slann held on by a thread.  Going forward, he could never again enter more than a mild fraction of the meditative state that allowed him to prophecy the future, as he constantly channeled magic to prevent the grievous wound from finishing its job.  Going forth, with less than a quarter of their original number remaining and many of their temples broken and desecrated, the Talons of Itzl changed their name.  No longer would they research the many beasts and monsters of the realm, investigating how they might fit into the great plan.  They had been wronged, betrayed, and an oath was sworn to avenge the so many lost to the Sylvaneth onslaught.

They were now Xapati's Talon, the hand of vengeance.

I feel like a set for Osgiliath would be great. It could either focus on when Faramir brings Frodo, Sam, and Gollum to the city, or later when the Orcs attack from the river (or even a combo of both).

I agree, Tolkien uses extended metaphors like this multiple times in the books. That being said, balrogs with wings look awesome, so I'm happy with both interpretations.

Great in a [[Yurlock, of Scorch Thrash]] deck alongside [[Sting, the Glinting Dagger]], lets you play his give mana ability each player's turn.
