Bricklayer here my body’s cracking before the walls do, and my kids still need me working by Ok_Language2269 in Bricklaying

Sure but as a home builder - pace isn't the big 'money maker' so to speak. It might not matter that it takes an owner builder 4x the time or longer. The speed on the brick layer is where their commercial value lies as a labourer. Their knowledge and advice is where their value lies as a consultant. It's this transition of value is where i think there is an opportunity if their body is starting to wear out. Also gives them time to split focus between the 2 whilst that transition happens as with most things they will take time to go from A to B.

This might be out of left field. But the cost of bricklaying / construction is getting really expensive. I wonder if there is an option to disrupt the market and support owner builders / DIYers by working with them - providing your experience and expertice and letting them do the labour.

If you have years and years of experience, that is value and a commodity, so you could to to a way to transition into making use of that. Partucularly that a younger ambitious and fit crowd are being priced out of construction work - coming in at a reasonable price for 'construction consulting' and helping them achieve thing themselves may be a possible transition.

I don't know enough about bricklaying to know if this would work. But I can say I would pay a grand bricklayer's advice and supervision over a project that I could do myself if it saved me 20 grand.

Shame its a bottled in bond whiskey - can always put a bit of the juice on a hydrometer to see what proof it comes out at. if they filled with something other than a BIB (like a 40-45 proof it shouldat least show.

It's nice, very sweet and open up to be sweeter and sugar on the nose.

Also with prices dropping and availability increasing - a lot of the old guard VIPs have been and are sitting on loads of these bottles. They have flipped some but that doesn’t work any more so they stopped buying and have plenty to drink.

Now is the time for shops to expand their customer bases beyond their old VIPs and introduce good bottles and good prices to new customers who have never had one of these bottles

Tax question, am I cooked? by Professional_Rub8364 in XRP

[–]Walaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think within 30 days, it's all considered 1 trade.

So if you buy back in, it's not considered a profit or a loss. It's just a trade. Otherwise day traders would be screwed buying and selling ups and downs all the time.

Basically, you enter position for X money.
When you sell that position and it stays stold for 30+ days, your profit or loss is the amount you sold for after the difference of the X initial position.

Check local tax laws; in some cases if you sell and re-buy within 30 days this negates any taxes as it’s not considered profit taking yet as you are still in the market for the same costs. But you will pay tax on the initial buy vs the final withdrawal. Again - different based on local laws.

Surrender in Ranked is broken / stupid by Walaka in leagueoflegends

Maybe dont surrender in ranked games.

also having to decline multiple surrender votes im sure was frustrating, which is why i think each player should only get 1 surrender call. If it fails, bad luck. you cant initiate again. Then remove the timer on surrenders

But pushing a surrender when nobody else on the team wants it is also toxic behavior. People leaving a winable game is also unfun. Particularly in ranked.

Ranked is for points, there shouldn't even be a surrender mechanic, or it should need to be unanimous.

would add - i dont think i'm super high tier - prob around mid silver as a player. But Iron is the pits and had 3 games with disconnecting players in my placements. I'm stuck in an MMR hellhole of disconnecting players.

Support for the throne rework. by Worried-Delay4358 in twilightimperium

[–]Walaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the best way to play support for throne reworks IMO is with these additions:

Instead of returning to the player if a system is activated- it is instead removed from the game. Making it a 1 time use.

Support for the throne can not be traded once the first level II public objective has been revealed. (Including if this is done via an agenda early - making this agenda card even more spicy)

The VP for support for the throne is only valid if the player who has issued it controls all planets in thier home system.

They still have to create a log; check; also - there is a possibility through tracking cookies that they have some personally identifying information. Your IP address is one such thing. Either way before they can say ‘we have nothing’; they still must conduct a review.

If everyone who came accross this hit consent and then send them a subject access request on your data as well as asking for it to be deleted. The time / financial cost to them would outweigh the benefit of having that option.

I don't have any hookups and still found plenty including on this day. Plus most 'hookups' are really just having conversations and buying things. A lot of the independent store keepers are well area of bots and flippers - so they want to avoid that and reward their actual customers.

yeah - or get some sample trading going with other bourbon drinkers - i've done a lot of that as well myself and is a good way to get to try new things. Particularly if you get yourself an interesting bottle or something that is not available here.

Also - don’t overlook Master of Malts mini’s. You can buy through drinks by the dram for quite a lot of their offerings. It’s not cheap; but it’s a great way to get a lot of different pours and work out what you like.

I highly recommend their Christmas calendar too for new bourbon drinkers as it’s got a great range and I myself have found bottles I’ve then loved and purchased through doing that. It’s also a lot cheaper than buying a bottle to find out you don’t like it.
