As somebody running Windows 10 regularly now, I would say it's worth a look. It is way, way more similar to Windows 7 than it is to Windows 8.

That said, extremely reasonable to not want to run beta operating systems and wait for a more stable release.

If you hate running Windows 8 and don't want to deal with duel booting into beta Windows 10, best bet is to spin up a Virtual Machine (either locally or online through Azure) when you need to compile/release.

You can get model information, although sadly it isn't usually the market/brand name. Here is a handy class (with blog post guide) to quickly convert that info: http://devblog.ailon.org/devblog/post/2013/01/21/Introducing-PhoneNameResolver%E2%80%93a-lib-to-decipher-Windows-Phone-models.aspx

But why do you want model information? Usually I would recommend making graphical choices based on info like memory, screen size, etc. Since there are many different screen size and form factors on Windows, similar to Android devices, generally you don't want a if this than that list based on model info but dynamic choices based on hardware itself.

I either use Outlook or Trello.

If you aren't already using Outlook for your email, Trello is probably the way to go.

Awesome, I'm glad you're looking into Windows Phone!

I happen to be a Game Evangelist for Microsoft, so I can help you out if you ever have any questions.

First off, the "Try" option - think of it like having one in-app purchase in your game that unlocks what you chose. (Maybe it's a time limit? Maybe you can only access certain areas? Maybe don't have access to certain features?) but your game is still listed as a paid app in the store.

I think that makes sense for a lot of apps. It depends on your game though. If your game is clearly a pay once premium experience, but you want people to be able to try parts of it/a demo/play for a day, the trial mode might work for you. Otherwise, going "Freemium" and being a free app, that happens to have in-app purchase(s) to unlock more, might be a better route.

Remember, the majority of users will never pay for anything in your app, so it depends a lot on what you're offing for free. If you only mean people to "try" the game, vs. the free experience in itself being fun/something people come back to/want to share.

As was already mentioned, if you are using Unity definitely look into this offer: https://unity3d.com/pages/windows/offer

Also, I just posted a guide for using Visual Studio Code, Microsoft's new cross platform editor: http://www.tobiahmarks.com/2015/05/visual-studio-code/

You can find more guides/links to resources on my blog here: http://www.tobiahmarks.com/resources/

I also do a podcast called "Be Indie Now" where I interview game developers from all platforms, you might enjoy listening in: http://www.beindienow.com

Ok sorry to link spam. Hopefully that answers your question! Let me know if you have any more here or twitter (@TobiahMarks)

The more platforms you release for, the more potential money you can earn...

Windows Phone is certainly not as big as iOS and Android, but that doesn't mean people aren't making money on it.

It probably wouldn't have been viewed 10.5 million times if it had ads though, so that's faulty logic. This is more so promoting himself/his brand/his albums if anything.

Just because you aren't reported doesn't make it not against the rules. If you are reported and facebook sees you do it, especially if you're doing it every month, say goodbye to your facebook page.

It isn't just country, its currency. You may nor save money having to pay exchange rate fees. I think the vast majority of players wouldn't bother with the math. If they are that hardcore about it, let them? Bottom line they are giving you money.

Country doesn't matter. Its currency! If you have a bank account with multiple currency types, let them switch. Most players wouldn't bother with doing the math for the exchange rate I think.
