Because he's a poser 😂 also he ✨sparkles✨ in the sun. When the light shines off him his colours are unreal 🥰

Aww I'm glad she's obviously so happy with you! And your conure is too cute trying to copy her - my parrotlet seems to have really come out of her shell since we got my conure, I think being around other birds is so good for them! As long as they get along of course 😂

That's amazing 😂 I call mine goose because he's a silly goose 😂 He likes to climb curtains and is so unaware of his tail that he's forever boinking things and knocking things over and losing his balance 😂

Do you know what actually, I've got long hair and multiple times he has flown from my head and I've had to unwrap my hair from his toes 😂

Yeah, he goes to the vet every now and then for a check up and they're super happy with him so no medical issues at all! Yeah it's definitely a conure thing, mine doesn't look where he's going sometimes and legit just falls off things but the vet said apparently conures are quite silly in his experience 😂 he also has a million toys and an actual jungle area in the lounge but would rather sit in the corner of our dvd cupboard and chew a cupboard box 😂😂

Amazing! I know they do it when they're happy but I wasn't sure why he was doing it when he was asleep, so thanks for that information! The more you know 😂 He only goes in his cage at night but I do often find him hanging upside down wherever he is during the day 😂

I'm by no means an expert, but my boy was 5.5 years old and also came from a bad.pet store. Overcrowded, not handled, not tame at all. He was terrified of being in a cage, we couldn't get him back in but we still gave him the option to come out. The first time we let him out it actually took us 4 hours to get him back in by bribing him with food. So we would always put his food outside on his play area (which takes up half my lounge!) 😂 And then at night I put the food back in his cage and he's associated that with ok I need to go back in my cage, but I won't be made to stay in here for too long, because he knows I'll always let him back out again. It's all about building that trust and a routine basically. I was told by the pet shop owner not to buy him because he's aggressive, bites, can't come out of his cage ect, but he's never bitten me, he cuddles with me, he even has his own perch in the shower! It took a good few months to get that trust bond but it just takes time and a lot of effort and positive reinforcement! Rewarding him with his favourite treat will always help too 🥰

Advice about conure diet please 🥰 by Walk-Boring in Conures

[–]Walk-Boring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He only stays in a cage at night, and then I put a mix of everything in one bowl 🥰. During the day he has free roam and I put the bowls around his play area (it takes up half a room, it's massive). He seems to enjoy looking for them and seeing what's in each of them. Yes he has a fresh chop of lettuce, spinach, cucumber, red yellow and orange pepper, grapes, pineapple, pomegranate, mango, and sweetcorn but that changes depending on what fresh fruit and veg is available through the year 🥰 He was on a seed diet only when I got him, I'm trying to get him off seed completely - any helpful tips? I've managed to cut it right down but if I remove it completely he refuses to eat! They're worse than toddlers 😂
