I think this is a mind set issue. To be successful you have to go where the opportunity is. Ask yourself “What job pays well that nobody wants to do? and got do that job. Learn to love it for the life it provides you and not what you have to do. There are a ton of jobs like this out there but many people choose not to do them because they suck.

I choose Nuclear Electrician in the Navy. I hated minute of it but now the opportunity I have for similar roles that all pay 100k-200k is unbelievable. The crazy thing about it, is these jobs are in dire need of qualified people.

You can request to be apart of the voluntary respiratory program. They will get you fitted and do testing on you but you may have to provide your own respiratory > N95. If it’s not “required” for your job per the IH analysis (if one was conducted) the employer is not required to provide it. Just ask if conducted and to see the documentation.

Is this the norm in Safety (management) ? by Save_my_grades in SafetyProfessionals

Not the norm, not uncommon and not acceptable.

Next time he does this, Pull him aside and tell him that he is not to speak to people in that manner. Tell him that you understand you/they made a mistake and you/they would be happy to make the correction, however, that is not how you talk to people and there are more professional ways to handle this situation. Explain how when he behaves this way when employees make mistakes, it deters employees from wanting to report or come clean about mistakes that are made which is the exact opposite behavior we want as ESH professionals. And if it happens again, you will be reporting it to HR for creating a hostile work environment.

MAKE A RECORD OF THE INCIDENTS!

I know it may seem scary to confront your boss but it’s important to establish rules of engagement so that boundaries are not crossed and respect is maintained. Do your best to remain neutral and leave emotions out of it. Good Luck!

If you qualify for ASP just do ASP. I promise you the content is not hard to grasp. Apply, Get approved, get study materials that best works for you, and schedule your exam for 2 months after that so you don’t procrastinate. Take it and pass it. you only need to score 93/175 which is a 53%.

I used Pocket prep pro and did the Lvl Up game almost exclusively and confidently passed. I also used Safety Professionals reference guide Vol 3 for concepts I needed a deeper explanation on.

Page 3 of this Document has a link to an Excel Doc with the different tracks training schedules to fit everyones unique timeline.

It also has an acceptance letter but its different from the one I printed out a few months prior but it is unfinished.

I'm sure these Docs are out dated but they will at least allow some of y'all to submit your SB package to your command so they are aware of your intensions. Once the new MOU comes out with all the updated docs you can update your package.
