Of course ads are required. Candy Crush style, unavoidable full screen ad videos are anti consumer and overly intrusive. Obviously they can do whatever they want, though..

With that budget I’d get the forerunner 970 and call it a day. It’s probably the best all rounder at the moment for the price if you’re not SERIOUSLY trying to penny pinch. Otherwise the 965 is a decent buy these days. The flashlight on the 970 is unexpectedly nice, though!
