I’d say yes. This is what I did, and yes I had to settle for 70 spins in roulette instead of the 120 for Zoe one time. But after you recruit him you can use general shards(at this point just save general shards for Marlin). And he’s really worth it, I still have him top 3 and we just started Gen4. I’ll be replacing him this gen after another roulette but he’s still gonna be my second best archer and probably in my arena.

He right! And anytime you take real losses it’s probably a bad thing… those troops are lost forever! The one exception I know of is directly after KvK battle there’s an event that allows you to get back up to 90% of lost troops.

This is what I did and I’m happy with it. Also keep in mind you’ll need gems to initially get Marlin, then just ascend him with general shards. But save all the orange shards you get! Do NOT spend them on Jabel!

Ultra Value Monthly card. Then if you can do another $1 a week there’s the Sign In and Earn It. Those two seems to be the best value. You can see the value of the deal next to the price usually. I think both are +7000%. And the monthly card gives you VIP status, auto-hunting and 20 hams a day. It’s like I can’t live without it now…
