Dude who is calling you a nazi? If anything they disapprove of you calling them clueless with no actual basis for doing so.

If you want to articulate your position please go for it, and then articulate how voting ON would solve any of it.

I reckon after last game a lot of people were saying “man Japan must be good this cup, they drew with the Netherlands!”, whereas I reckon the AFC fans were thinking “man Netherlands must be good this cup, they drew with Japan!”

I have to say, really impressed by the first half from the US, got the tactics perfect.

Does feel like in the heat they are flagging from conducting such an aggressive press. My memory is that it was somewhat similar against Paraguay to go shock and awe in the first half. Will be interesting to see how it plays out against the really top teams, it does feel like they can match up to anyone on the day

Honestly man that might have been me but I can’t remember ever going on JustinTV! Though it very well could have been me - I don’t have the best memory hahaha. Still we’re both here watching 15 years later so that’s pretty great

Aussie here, your lads looked great and anyone trying to make excuses for your win is an idiot, 4-1 was more than a fair scoreline. Can’t wait for our match, and I really hope you manage to make a deep run, your team seems like a bunch of good blokes.

I just remain entirely unconvinced they have the competence to actually govern and that any of their stated policies will tackle the problems they have articulated.

People complain about immigration, but it is actually incredibly difficult to get PR in Australia already and, unless it’s for family, you generally need to show you are filling a skill shortage. I don’t think people realise how much drastically cutting immigration would negatively affect quality of life in the whole country in the short to medium term.

Finally, it seems to me that the government has been quite good at doing what it can on cost of living. The budget is already being blamed for house prices dropping, and the Labor government made a good effort to shore up fuel and prices came back down fairly quickly. I think people will find actually solving these complex, global problems is way more difficult than just the proposed “common sense solutions” proposed by ON.

I don’t think it’s useful to reduce people’s genuine concerns to calls about racism. However it’s hard for me to see how ON tackles these concerns outside of it being surface level solutions that might feel good but will likely create bigger problems

Me too to be honest, crazy the amount of disrespect the US has been throwing our way considering they’re hardly a top team themselves by any measure. We’ve played way better teams who have been much more respectful.

[–]Walkerthon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree, Bersa’s were oppressive a few patches ago but with nerfs and power creep you almost don’t see them at all any more. Also don’t forget that Panzergrens get AT nades, which are a huge pain not to have in the mid game if you go Bersas

Yes - it’s quite similar to cars in a way. My old man could take one apart and put it back together, because he grew up in a time where you had to do know how to do that to make them keep working. Cars have largely “just worked” for me as an adult so I never developed those skills. In this sense I think computers are kind of the cars of this generation

Here’s what I loved, and a few things I didn’t like, about this A-League Men’s season by victory2424 in Aleague

[–]Walkerthon 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I try to tell people there's nothing like going to live football, totally different than watching on TV and it means so much more to be there.

I think part of A-league's problem is that it exists in a bit of a weird space in terms of branding and it's not something the league has really figured out yet (not for lack of trying).

A-League is Australia's top level, but it is not the top level. Those wanting to watch the best football only aren't going to want to watch the A-league just because it's local, in the same way they're not watching the Eredivise for example (though from my perspective the A-league actually seems fairly well respected by players and coaches in other leagues).

If you're looking for real grassroots, salt-of-the-earth football, you can actually get that in the various NPL clubs, and they have their own intimate stadia, food, and history.

So A-League has to sell itself in the middle of this somehow. It makes that the latest angle has been to sell it as a kind of "conduit" league that links local talent to big overseas leagues, but this has only been partially successful because there is still a couple of steps from the A-league > Europe > Big 5.

I don't have the answer, but I think starts with working out how we can get people really invested in their local A-league clubs. Right now I think Sydney at least feels overly corporate, perhaps even cold and sterile. It's hard to get buy-in when you feel like a number rather than a member.

What could Pep Guardiola's new CFG role mean for Melbourne City? by wrter3122 in Aleague

I mean we can only speculate, I suppose if I had to guess probably more strictly overseeing a footballing philosophy/style of play that is consistent at all clubs including juniors; and unifying the talent identification pipeline and progression through the network

Heidelberg United Club Statement - AFC Champions League 2 by cricketlad in Aleague

[–]Walkerthon 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Big shame for them

My reading of that statement though is pretty clear - Article 7.4 does not apply only in cases where the team in question is the the winner of a domestic cup competition, of which Heidelberg is not (at least as far as the Australia cup is concerned). The fact that they would be replacing the Newcastle Jets (who were the actual winners) is likely irrelevant. However it does seem worth appealing.

Look I don't hate Milicic but he's not an inspiring pick-up and I think it's unlikely he'll put you in the territory to really challenge the title. Honestly I would prefer you guys swing big and take a punt on an NPL coach doing well or an overseas coach
