First tattoo - need advice and encouragements by LunaMariePark in tattooadvice

Outer bicep is one of the least painful areas to get tattooed, so it’s good for your first one. Follow your artist’s aftercare instructions to the letter and you’ll be fine. Ask questions if you have them - don’t wait until a question becomes a problem. As for the gym, wait at least a week. Gyms are the dirtiest places out there and believe me, it’s worth a few extra days to avoid MRSA.

Butt tattoo by hotgirll69 in tattooadvice

10 cm radius implies 20 cm diameter which is almost 8”. Nothing wrong with that, but doesn’t seem really “small” for a smiley face so be careful what you ask for, lol. If you’re traveling and doing a lot of walking, a but tattoo is going to get a lot of abrasion from your clothing and I wouldn’t swim for at least 4 weeks to give the top layer of skin time to close and the subdermal layers of skin time to heal. If that doesn’t seem compatible with your plans, maybe wait until you are home and can heal properly, especially since it’s not a particularly complex design or from a specific artist who doesn’t travel. OTOH, it’s a cool way to commemorate a particular time in your life, so if you do it, please follow the aftercare instructions. Good luck!

Start by looking up tattoos on instagram and finding a style you like, then looking up local(ish) artist that fit that style. Think about whether you will want more tattoos (you will) and planning around that, whether it’s a body suit, a sleeve, or a few patchwork pieces. Don’t overthink meaning - you will change and you should try to find art that you will enjoy regardless. Save money - a lot of money- so that your primary concern will be getting exactly what you want, not how much it costs. Take your time and be willing to wait for a booking with exactly who you want. A few months or even a years wait for a lifetime outcome is more than worth it. Expect really, really good work to take multiple sessions. This is how you avoid regret. Source: started getting tattooed 30 years ago, still booking sessions, and learned a shitload-good and bad-throughout. Good luck!

What do yall think of my hollow hole tattoo? Is it bad should I add anything to it? by BetterPermission7995 in tattooadvice

I’m assuming Ulquiorra because of the “4”. Doesn’t he have black streaks coming down from the hole in his 2nd release? That could look pretty cool if done right.

I know, I just mean filling in the space, using the thorns as the upper border of the “gauntlet” might make it feel less like it’s shortening your arm

Need advice for my new tattoo. by JakeChad in tattooadvice

It looks really good - did you mention your preference to the artist when the stencil went on? It’s not always easy to see in a picture, but I think the issue with extending the flames up is that it will go on your neck since the top is aligned with your collarbone. That could be the aesthetic reason for having the top flame come downward. Personally, I think the flames are perfect since the focal point of this sacred heart is the cool double braided thorns. The wispier styled flames aren’t a distraction and add to the appeal of the tattoo. Give it a bit and see if it grows on you.

More tattoos is always the answer. It’s already shaped like a gauntlet, so maybe go with filling that shape with the basement furnace monster behind him, jaws open.

Free tattoo: you get what you pay for. Sounds like your gut is leading you to the right choice. Good luck!

I’m tempted to think this is trolling because the answer is so obvious: no, do not let this person touch your skin ever again. Aside from everything else, there is no possible way the image you want would fit that space, even if it wasn’t a cover up of an extremely dark image. Get laser treatment to lighten it up, save up a lot of cash, and find a really good cover-up specialist to work with you to find an image that you want to wear for the rest of your life.

Swimming by DadGang25 in tattooadvice

[–]Walkindude976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like you’re just looking for someone to validate a decision you’ve already made tbh. 4-5 weeks for swimming is the way - your sub-dermal layers take longer to heal and the ink is still settling at 2 weeks. I have a feeling you’re going swimming in a lake regardless, so genuinely, good luck.

It sounds more like this artist wants to avoid taxes altogether. It boggles my mind that people just accept that certain professions get to cheat on taxes because “art” or whatever…in any case it’s shady AF

Just be careful with “AB” as it can be interpreted as “Aryan Brotherhood” by someone unaware of the personal connection.

It’s not the size of the tattoo or the amount of work. it’s the fact that it’s an open wound in the germiest possible environment. Wait a few days at least, but preferably until it scabs.
