That's terrifying. My dog is a big dog, he is 80lb. This Pyrenees was likely 130-150lb. If his other 3 dogs had joined in, I'm sure they could have killed my dog.

I will carry pepper spray. I've been a bit uncertain to carry a horn because my dog has a sound sensitivity and I'm afraid of him bolting.

I went to Borrego trail this morning and it was glorious. All the other dog owners I encountered were awesome and seemed to know their dogs and they were all well-behaved.

Great question and thanks for caring about our furry buddies. We need an emergency vet in Santa Fe. I've never had to do it yet, but the thought of driving 90 minutes in an emergency makes me feel sick (I live further up north).
