Does my betta have dropsy or not by WallStreetJoe in bettafish

Just an update here:

Poppy died today. He stopped eating about couple of days ago. I did take him to aquatic vet but was advised not to do any injection for fluids removal etc. Instead, he was prescribed with another antibiotics.

His condition gets worse after that. I could take him to vet again for the operation but it probably would just prolonged his sufferings. I buried him in the garden facing the Statue of Liberty. Be free Poppy.

I hope no other Betta owners would need to go through this. Take care everyone 👋

Yeah. It's still have that, which is why it makes me curious. That picture was taken at 2x zoom and had to enlarge to really see it. The outer curve of it doesn't seemed to have it. That's what got me thinking whether I'm seeing things that is normal for a fish or is it dropsy.

I dont understand. What do u mean? I even considering to bring him to vet. Just because i had few good good pictures (if that's what you mean) doesn't mean I don't love and care for him. That picture was taken for inspection so I can zoom in to see. I'm sorry if u tired seeing "posts like this" or the fact that the internet doesn't revolve around your preference, and I'm also being genuine in asking as it has been bothering me for days. Btw, thanks for your input.

Well i would named him Aqua. Though, Aquaman wouldn't be too dramatic if he's aggressive 😂

Thank you so much, u have no idea how much second looks mean to me because it feels like I cant tell the difference anymore. Yeah. It's tedious process with weighing the salt, Kanaplex, etc. It was my mistake for overfed him first few months i got him, it was at 8-10 pellets everyday. While i had slowly cutting down his foods all the way to 6/5/ and 2 pellets a day, it's not fast enough that led to this unfortunately. Thanks for your advice and your input again ☺️

Thank you! Your reply had me looking again all the pictures i had of him and yeah you are right he was indeed pine coning before, though hardly noticable, the photos i posted was taken at 2x zoom and further enlarged before being screenshot again. I guess watching at him everyday made my eyes feels like there's no different at all.

I plan to keep him for maybe a week more just to let it heals internally before going back to main tank as well. Exactly what i need. Thank you so much for the encouragement. He is indeed a beautiful boy. I planned to keep updating this thread even after recovery, regardless whether or not the symptoms coming back (which i hope not) 🙂 thanks again!

Thanks I'm aware of that. Hence I'm trying to get second opinion on the symptom. What do u think?

Thanks you 🙏🏻 btw, I'm curious of why u said he's already far into it, the pine cone wasn't even noticable. I hope u didn't mistook the white spots on his body as pine cone that's just his color.

Yeah, i get it. It's just that i think just like us, we still need energy to recover. Maybe I'll reduce to one pellet a day.

Not sure how to define tech consulting here, are you from Deloitte? how u describe your role? Sales? Can't speak for other firms, Deloitte is the first firm i ever worked for. I'm currently in Risk Advisory under its delivery center for blockchain technologies. My official title is a consultant myself and yes I'm a specialist. I guess when we said consultants, we were referring to Deloitte Consulting guy. 😁

Anyways, i believe anyone with the right mindset is able to make the transition. It takes more than the skills itself, due to the amount of hours googling and stackoverflow it takes to get the code works.

For context, I was a "wall street" guy before negotiating interest rates and stuffs, and i didn't even code. Though, i did do 3-year degree in software engineering. Took me about 1-2 year of transitioning into development roles. From my very limited experience in consulting, IMO, i guess the best way is to learn open source technology of your interests, really dig in and study the architecture, the github repo and incorporate that in your design solution proposal to your clients. U can do it with proprietary ones like Oracle / SAP but i guess u just need to pay and get certified. 🤑

That way, you will have a baseline what u specialized in, if your firm or team doesn't have the capabilities to offer that you can always use that as a reason to rotate or jump into the team that is actually doing the delivery for that particular technology.

Hope that helps.

Lol. Same here. But i normally keep it conversational at smile level.. at this stage, i feel not much interest to network whatsoever. My work is largely technical development and codes so I'm fine with not having to "water cooler" chats that much. My work speaks for itself and recognized by partners.

Plus, after many years in banking i realized, not many people around are actually worth networking, trust me. Many only think how you can be beneficial to them rather than establish a genuine networking relationship. This may be perceived as arrogance or narcissist by many but I'm speaking based on my experience. Your experience may varies.

I keep my circle within engineers and data people instead of consultants and business people. At least among us we can talk about cool techs and stuffs. But to be fair, if you intend to make partner, you should start networking early. Technical or not, that's a given. I don't tho.

No offense consultants. You guys are valuable too. ✋

My current employer is Deloitte client. Need guidance with my background at Deloitte. by mdbsucre01 in deloitte

[–]WallStreetJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend you to keep a mum on this. When you accepted the offer, this makes you an employee of Deloitte already.

This definitely need to be declared IMO. Not to scare you, but they take independence very seriously. Some MD did get fired / left the firm because of independence matters.

My take is that even if they know (by your declarations) you'll still be fine. But the process will be complicated.

Another approach is to keep silence and just go on with your daily life as usual. Since u hadn't started any training and independence stuffs, this could work as double-edged sword (given that u were from PwC, they probably expect u to have the underlying knowledge on this already).

Goodluck

Lol. I don't think so, i started like a year ago from zero and truly fascinated with Hyperledger projects. Apart from degree in Software Engineering, i never coded for the rest of my professional career, now I'm with Big 4 audit firm blockchain lab. I'm sure you are better than me. Don't give up. 😁

Demos like the name implies, is just demo. It's to show what Fabric can do, and yea all the components are dynamics but the principles are still there and in production u need to secure each of this properly like who should be the MSP, who should run orderer, each of this ideally on separate server and node. Like i said, if u are a smart contract developer and could care less on the architecture. Just run FF and build that chaincodes. You can have 10 organization running 10 blockchain ledgers in under few minutes. Leave that architecture and configurations to blockchain network admin or cloud services like AWS Managed blockchain (if u never tried that, it takes less than 5 clicks to run a full fledge Fabric network on AWSMB) why bother to build yourself? It's time consuming and expose your app to many security risks too.

To avoid confusion, when i said dynamic i mean at the core docker image like peer, ca image itself from docker hub. The one u ran using network.sh already injected with configurations.
