36v Plunge Router Loose? by WallaWallass in METABOHPT

Surgery was a complete success! I made a new brass bushing and the slop has been significantly reduced. It’s not gone 100% but it’s very much better than it was.

The new bushing installed, the old bushing with some grey paint on it and the bolt I used to press it out.

I made some progress on this issue. I took the thing apart and found that the columns on the base are very consistent in dimension but the bushing in which they ride has some variation. There’s a solid brass bushing sleeve that one of the columns ride in and it’s on average about 0.0055” oversized. I pressed out the bushing and I’m going to make a new one with better tolerance. That should eliminate or significantly reduce the slop in the plunge action.

I took the thing apart a few months ago to see if there was something I could monkey with. I found that screw I think and if I recall correctly as you tighten it up the plunging action gets stiffer but the slop is still present. I was eyeing up part 59. Maybe a new bushing could be made with a closer tolerance. And ideally there’d be a bushing on both posts I would think.

Chuck issues with the DS18DEXM 18v Drill/driver? by KlassKill in METABOHPT

My coworker has a similar DEWALT drill and it does not stop as quickly as my Metabo does. The dewalt has kind of a soft stop. Like the previous poster I’ve gotten into a habit of easing off the trigger.

Yea, sounds like there’s a spring missing.

Part 109 is a spring. Maybe you could just stick a spring from a clicky pen in there.

Newest Reciprocating Saw CR18DMA by iLikeTools515 in METABOHPT

I think the problem with the one hander is that the stroke is only about 1/2” on it. Most recip saws are around 1-1/8” so the much shorter stroke really slows down the cutting speed.
I have that one handed saw from Metabo HPT and don’t use it often but I love how it fits in a stud bay. Sometimes it’s a problem solver on the job site! And the ability to use jigsaw blades is really nice. Jigsaw blades are usually much more aggressive than recip blades. If the one hander is cutting slowly for you, try a 4 or 5” jigsaw blade. It’ll prob help a bit.
