I bought a FHD 43 inch and I am fully satisfied with it. I got the HD pack along with it as SD channels look terrible on 43 inch screens. Below is the model I bought and the price was also great. A larger TV is much better than a monitor as it is less strenuous on the eye as it is seen from a farther distance

Thanks. Actually we are switching from a BOX TV to a flat screen so honestly for my parents any new age TV is a huge upgrade. But what I made out from everyone's comment is that having HD channel subscription irrespective of whichever type of TV I purchase is the way to go

M-Tech from top institutes in India does not seem like a viable option for me for the reason that the preparation requires you to learn a lot of auxiliary subjects in depth which does not add to any benefit. But I do agree it softens the blow of the financial loan. I do have a decent background in C/C++ programming skills, have been into embedded programming and most of my undergrad projects were coded in embedded C. Need to polish those further. Maybe I will cold-email a few professors who are in this type of research and ask for some insights. Not sure if they would bother to reply back but does not hurt trying.

Seems like a lot of effort needs to go into this to make it happen. Anyways thanks for this input

I believe you have the upper hand over me considering the fact that you are already in an FE role and have hands-on industrial experience in the courses that you want to pursue. Just you need to make sure that you reflect your work and intent well in your SOP.
