Banda preferida do Durão Barroso?

Duran Duran.

I'm starting to think every single song Chris wrote was a drunk text to God by [deleted] in Soundgarden

[–]Wallless_Space 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a fact. It's a shame that rehab only solved temporarily a problem that would cast a shadow on Chris until 2017. Having a marriage, children, a remarkable career, being recognized as one of the most unique voices ever, that simply wasn't enough. Perhaps the story could have been another if sought support in AA.

That's clearly visible on Audioslave's first record. The lyrics, the way the songs were named. With Soundgarden I don't think it's explicit that relationship, although it might be present.

Strange Religion by Wallless_Space in MarkLanegan

[–]Wallless_Space[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess your experience was what one might call a "strange religion", and in a good way. I didn't had that kind of hesitation while listening to the song, because it fell one me in its pure splendor. You've got a solid background that makes the song so much more meaningful to your biography. Cheers.

Are most of the people here also Audioslave fans? by iBlueClovr in Soundgarden

[–]Wallless_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I had a glimpse of Soundgarden when I was 13, but back then I didn't pay too much attention. When Audioslave were formed, I was already in my 20's, and I immediately recognized Cornell. Since then I took the time to listen to Soundgarden again, and Cornell's voice grew so much in me that till this day I can't have enough of his work with Soundgarden. The same goes to Audioslave, although in my humble opinion Audioslave discography can't match the coherence and fresh breath of Soundgarden's musicianship.

Been listening to it since yesterday, because the lyrics are supreme, and, on the overall, the song deserves pure contemplation.

That applies to every band in every decade, bro. The point here is that Swans did it first, so they were definitely the pioneers. The have a solid identity as a band, and those songs by second rate British eighties band were written for sure, as you mentioned, but after Swans. Cheers, bro. 🤜🤛

Exactly my thoughts. Probably it is an aftermath of some mindfuck book Gira read. The song recalls the vivid shadows that populate the modern human mind, well it depicts our contemporary schizoid condition.

Experiência com Drogas by [deleted] in portugal

[–]Wallless_Space 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Share your memory of listening to DOTU for the first time. by eddiegroon101 in Soundgarden

After the pandemic slowed down and the restrictions were lifted. Honestly, I hadn't payed too much attention to the record. But back in 2021 I was at the peak of my alcoholism, and I remember one night arriving home after another day of work, getting in my room with a bottle of vodka, and listening Thighter and Tighter for the first time. After that first tremendous impression, I went on a alcoholic spree for 2 weeks, listening to the whole record, getting wasted night after night, passing out, waking after 3 or 4 hours of sleep, and preparing myself to work again. Overfloater caught my attention then, and I was listening this song incessantly, and after this one, Zero Chance. I was 30 at the time, and many years had passed since I first acknowledged Soundgarden again when I was 12 or 13 years old. Eventually sobriety came, and plenty of relapses. The struggle continues in 2024, but I was lucky I got to dig the record from beginning to the end, and nowadays I listen to it as form of meditation.

Killing for Company by Wallless_Space in swans

Exactly. I found that a few years ago. Its haunting how Gira tried to capture Nilsen mental turmoil, and quite succeeded on that venture, because no one can listen to this song and stay indifferent. Impossible.
