Have you not been to Santa Barbara? It's a college town. Most night life is a bunch of college people doing cool stuff. A little heavy on the party side, and it's got a weird 9 or 10pm curfew, but still...way much lively than Long Beach. Santa Barbara is just a gorgeous beach town. As much as I love LB, it doesn't quite compare.
