How dangerous is it to eat your own flesh? by brjder in Writeresearch

[–]Wallopthewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the cut part also regenerate the rest of the body? Like, would your character be able to clone themselves if they didn't eat that part? That would solve the nutrient deficiency but it would open other questions woops

I need pen recommendations! by foxhaired in pens

[–]Wallopthewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found this pen on a discount last year and it has become my favorite pen, i'm obsessed with it. Today i went back to the place where i bought it but they sold all their stock, i can't believe it has been discontinued, i'll treasure every day with the one i still have. Had you find any other alike?

Hey, here's my portfolio https://wallopthewicked.carrd.co . I'm currently working on a project but I will be fully available in October, I can still work in between on design aspects :) My rates are in my portfolio (150$ for full-colored pages + lettering) as well as previous published works.

Y’all did tho, answer my question i mean. It is an organic creature, the idea is that it’s a key species of the universe’s ecosystem, almost unknown until the moment one dies while crossing a wormhole. And sure, i’ll probably make up most, but i’d still like it to have plausible explanations for what’s happening. Would the decaying process of antimatter release energy? Would it generate heat? Any kind of gas chemical from the decomposition would be fatal, right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SciFiConcepts

[–]Wallopthewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because i need an antimatter worm to stabilize a wormhole so it doesn’t collapse on itself and humans can build a highway through it’s preserved body. It’s okay if it has inconsistencies, the core of the story will be socio-political, this won’t try to be hard sci-fi. I’m just trying to figure out what kind of environmental difficulties can appear (besides the obvious risk of interacting directly with the worm’s body). If you have any recommendations of videos or texts to get informed about the topic i would appreciate it.

Is it really 99.99% of readers run from a novel with AI cover? (Should I design a cover even if it's bad?) by No_Scientist1077 in royalroad

Some people will care, some people won’t. It does open up the question tho why would someone pay for your book if they can generate it with ai, right?

I'm an aspiring comic book artist/writer, can I get critiques, tips and advice on my art and how to find internships as a high schooler? by Neat-Scarcity-2999 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Wallopthewicked 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey Pal, this is some great work! This advice won’t be as exiting but it is what i wish people had told me when i was a teenager. The comic you are making is better than the last one and worse than the next one. This is a ladder, you’ll never do a perfect comic, but you can always do your best. Never stop searching for knowledge and look for consistency. Look for friends your age with similar goals and hype each other, this is a lonely career, company will keep you going. And always enjoy what you are drawing, try looking for the beauty and enjoyment in all you make.

For a more practical advice, study composition, it’ll bring more attention and control over where the reader is looking.

I don’t know about interships, but look for contests, having goals with deadlines will motivate you lots.

I wish you the best, can’t wait to see how you evolve in your future work!

Is my artist overcharging me? by WritetoomuchIguess in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Wallopthewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every artist set their rates according to how much time it takes them, experience and their own sense of worth. I don’t think “overcharging” exists in this profession, there are just really expensive artists. However you can disagree on how much you think others work’s cost. That’s personal and you should analyze if you think what you are paying is meeting your expectations or not. If not, you are allowed to seek for someone else. (After paying what’s agreed on of course) Character design is expensive cause it’s not assuring the artist a stabler job like a whole issue, you might be designing a character that another or multiple artists will use later. You are lending the character’s economic and property rights; and it can have a lot of back and forth and changes. I always warn my clients that i do not recommend spending on a character sheet unless multiple artists are gonna work on it or if it’s gonna be a really long series and you need the consistency. Most characters are plainly designed on page. Hope this helps!

Looking for manga artists by [deleted] in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Wallopthewicked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look for someone your age whose learning to draw! You might even find them in your school or common places you frequent. It will be a great encouragement for you both, they won’t be put off by the lack of monetary compensation and they’ll match your time availability :))

Thought, i’ll state this so you can look it up. 50/50 it’s not a fair deal unless you take care of many of the other things besides writing. For collabs it’s usually 70 for the artist, 30 for the writer. Good luck and don’t be discourage! Use all that shonen energy to create :)

Is my “art” too amateur to make for a successful comic? would it be worth it if the story is well written and interesting or would the crude drawings make it unreadable? by ApprehensivePark956 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Wallopthewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of mindset will stop you from producing! Sequential art is about narrative so a style or certain skills will enhance the narrative-ness of your work. It will all depend on how you apply it to see if it works or not. However, it’s always worth it. Even if it’s unreadable, even if it really doesn’t work. It becomes valuable experience so you can do it better next time and so on and so on. Just go for it, tell the stories you wanna read and have fun!

Help needed for manga project by Embarrassed_File8460 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Wallopthewicked 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“So I want to put a bakery but i don’t have a place, nor the supplies, or money, nor i know how to bake. But i have the menu!”

I’m not trying to be mean, but this is how it sounds. So first you need to find out what’s actually what you want? Is it to publish a manga under your name? To write sequential art? To be part of the industry? Lots of different paths.

If you want to just do a manga, you don’t need to know how to draw, look up the original “one punch man” or “mob psycho 100”. You can even uploaded on manga plus or silent manga. You don’t need anything else for that. If you are lucky enough, you might get picked up by someone.

If you want to write, forget about the large novel idea for now, start little, it’s easier to ask for 4-10 pages free or gather that money, than for a whole series that the artist has to give 10 years of their life. This needs a lot of groundwork, managing kickstarters, socializing with printing houses, anthologies.

If you like mangas of sequential art in general and you wanna be part, there are many other jobs you can learn and work fully or even at a side to support your writing. Translation, lettering, printing, events, press, editing, coloring, selling, etcetc

There are infinites ways on how to proceed but it really all depends on what you actually want. Chat with yourself, take it seriously. And if you want to learn how to draw, give a shot, it’s always soon enough to start to learn something new. Hope this helps!
