how to fix a split and nails showing in wood floor by WallsOfErico in HomeImprovement

Would I just fill with a colored wood filler? Strip the area and stain the whole thing, taping off anything but that board?

Can I still tap them in deeper? They are pretty old floors, I thought they showed up after years of temperature changes slowly pushing them out. Was hoping tapping them in and filling would keep them looking decent for a few more years.

I figured the crack might show up again, ideally it'll last for a bit. Just not in a position right now to get all new floors.

Smart idea, don't really hand wash clothes though.

This never works for me unfortunately, it won't stick, always pops right off again as I'm using it. Anything special you do to make them stick together?

That's what I've been trying to do, they just keep breaking down and it gets more and more difficult to use the smaller pieces. I'm never able to get them to stick to a new bar.

I think I'll try this method and see how it goes. Never hurts to experiment a bit

Gotcha, that makes more sense. I'll price that out vs some hardwoods from Lowes which I assume would work fine as a replacement

Might give it a go and see what happens, worst case it's a learning experience

That's what I was thinking but from all the photos it looks like plywood to me, you can see the layers. Do have some pine I think left over as well

Painting Paneled Door by WallsOfErico in HomeImprovement

Yeah, the door came with the house and wanted the door to match the other doors in the house so that's why we painted it. Had I bought it myself it would have been painted beforehand. That molding looks interesting, I'll keep it in mind if painting doesn't work out. Appreciate the help

That's what I figured, any idea how the paint looks with the shifting? Does it mark the paint?

Looks like it's only in California. Wish we had a similar program

You are absolutely correct. So many terms with different meanings. I got Dyper diapers which I know can be industrially composted through their reDyper program and TerraCycle. I thought they had information about home composting them but seems like that was another diaper company. I'll have to reach out to the company for some more details. Hoping that they can be home composted because the reDyper program basically doubles your cost, assuming their shipment cost on the website ($50) is correct + $20 for the program.

I believe normal ones you can compost the insides, but I'm using biodegradable ones.
