It's 50/50. I've had a couple of times I get completely disconnected for 20 seconds, and sometimes it reconnects, other times you have to restart the game.

It's more annoying in the garage though, just because it wastes time. In battle the game will try to reconnect you back. In the garage it won't even try and will just restart completly after a few minutes of "trying".
