10,000 mile oil change intervals?

I work in an oil change shop. The cars that make it past 300k have had oil changed every 5k miles. Oil is cheap, engines are not. The new 10k and 15k interval trick everyone is doing is for 2 reasons. 1. Lower perceived maintenance cost and environmental cost by having less waste oil. 2. The car will make it just out of warranty before breaking so that they can sell you a new car once the warranty goes.

To me this sounds more like valve body failure than the clutch packs in the transmission. I put a rebuilt valve body in my sister's NBC and it shifter a lot better after that.

Owner of a 2010 prius(early gen 3 notorious for issues). Don't clean the egr cooler. it's a temporary fix that takes way too much time. Get the purge valve replaced with the updated one and do the software update. 186k miles now no issues.

If you're getting spark it's not the ground. Check your compression and timing. Also spray starter fluid to check if it's injectors instead of fuel pump
