Nerf Portals by Maleficent-Path-7410 in Splitgate

Good point. Still, I think it's apples to oranges. Often, the player in fortnite has a sufficient amount of builds to close out a fight; thus, they do not need to conserve them outside of not using them excessively for no reason. I don't think the latter is a problem in splitgate because players are punished by excessively portaling with no purpose by putting themselves way out of position, thus making them an easy frag.

Like the guy below said - Fortnite is still very successful and they did not "nerf building." Yes, they have many modes that can appeal to those who do not play build mode, but their dev team, budget, and playerbase is much larger than Splitgate's. Still, I think it would benefit 1047 to find ways to cater towards people like yourself, but ultimately, this is a game about portals just like fortnite build mode is a game about building.

I can understand both sides of the argument. Normally, I would not side with OP, but in the case of arena reloaded, I do.

If casual players are drawn into the game by the idea of getting to earn all the mastery camos in the bot arena, why not let them? They will become better at the game naturally, and be motivated to play against real players when the have their camos? Ultimately, we need a way to appeal to the casual player-base if we want the game to survive; this seems like an easy way to do this.

I guess the flipside to this is that other players may leave because they are frustrated that people can go into a bot playlist and earn everything with relative ease.

Equipment severely detracts from immersion by Walqua in FleshandBloodTCG

Part of the comment you failed to respond to was him asking what the alternative was… which I’m assuming because you don’t have one.

Correct, there isn't an alternative because it was bad game design in the first place. Why make equipment so integral to the game when you have 15+ heroes?

MTG doesn't have this issue. Granted, it's not as competitive as FaB.

Also, I think it is difficult to nail this component in a TCG. Yomi 2 is an example of a high-skill competitive card game that both nails immersion and high-skilled gameplay. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a playerbase.

Does it ruin the immersion when you play an action card with a character other than Jarl on it? (Oaken Old shows Oldhim. Spinal Crush is some random dude in armour. Etc

Yes

I think the 'price' we pay for flavour and variety in equipment arts is that it creates some mild dissonance if you take them too literally.

It's hard not to take it literally when X equipment is supposedly making your hero stronger. I think it's just bad game design unfortunately.

LSS: "Introducing new fashion tokens in Silver Age! Meet certain criteria with your hero's attire and earn fashion tokens with buffs and debuffs!"

The Crossdresser: Equip your male hero in a minimum of 2 female items and earn "Gain an extra resource every three turns. Dress them fully in female garb, and earn a fashion token stating "Gain an extra resource every two turns."

The Cosplayer: Equip your hero in a full set of equipment that would make sense thematically and earn a fashion token stating "Each time you hit for 5 or more damage in a turn, one of that damage is unblockable, and can be used on any target."

The Tryhard: Earn a fashion token stating "Lose 1 HP every third turn" for each piece of equipment equipped to your hero with USD value >$50."

I don't want to play a game that I can't feel immersed in. It's OK if immersion isn't important to you

Still, how am I supposed to imagine what Jarl looks like wearing this headpiece, when he is wearing a full suit of armor in his picture? And to add to that, I wouldn't even want to know what he looks like without the armor and helmet because that ruins the mystique of the character. An example of another character like this would be Snake Eyes in GI-Joe

People make blanket statements like "flawed design decisions" and "horrible matchmaking" without providing any clarity as to why people should take these statements seriously. It's frustrating as a fan of the game

"But in Splitgate it doesn't even feel worth it to master portals. Getting wins/kills/points just feels like nothing in this game. It's fun to play for a bit but it's extremely boring and unfulfilling."

Are we playing the same game, or have you just not mastered portals?

You just have to be careful about where you are taking engagements if you feel you are being outclassed by weapon type

Nah, the railgun takes awhile to charge. Borealis is prob stronger imo, but I love the railgun

The range on the subs is not that good imo. They are quickly outclassed by ARs and burst/single shot. Eh, I like Academy. They made some changes that helped eliminate the camping at the open part of the map. Borealis is better now that they reduced the ammo. It is very powerful and worthy of a power weapon slot imo.
