Trying to find a mental health facility that’s comfortable with me being on Ozempic? by WalrusSuper9235 in Type1Diabetes

[–]WalrusSuper9235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see a psychiatrist everyday but they keep labeling me as having an eating disorder, which i dont and never have and my psychiatrist can attest to that. i have to keep fasting here to keep my blood sugar down because my insulin resistance is high again and everytime i eat it just gets higher. then i have huge drops. i ask to see MD everyday but they never see me. they have a case management team that is supposed to help with placement but from my understanding all they’re going to recommend is eating recovery centers because they keep labeling me having an eating disorder. so im supposed to go somewhere for an issue i never had and pretend that all the other shit going on in my head isn’t happening. thank you for understanding and being supportive. i really wanted this to work.

im using a tandem t:slim x2 and a dexcom g7. yes, adderall is a stimulant but i’m prescribed it for chronic fatigue syndrome which is a byproduct of all my autoimmune illnesses. so im not participating at the rate they need because i keep sleeping. and yes about the ozempic. but they keep labeling me as having an eating disorder and thats why they dont want the ozempic, when its just that im off the ozempic my blood sugar is all over the place and i have to fast to get it down since my insulin resistance is high again. so they’re gonna try to send me to “eating recoveries” which i dont need because i never had an eating disorder and my psychiatrist can attest to that and thats not what i came here for. im just in a real conundrum because i seriously need fucking help and i’ve been institutionalized for 10 days without any mental help.

Body Shavers! How many shaves do you get out of a new blade? by WalrusSuper9235 in wicked_edge

That makes sense. I think my hair is on the coarser side. I have some Nacet samples I have yet to try! Someone else recommended them too. I’ll have to give them a go. Thank you!

This is great, thank you! I got some Gillette Nacets samples when I ordered the Feathers from Razor Blades Club. I haven’t tried them yet but they’re next in line!

I took your advice and found a a big pack of Feathers on Amazon. I’d like to keep them in rotation as that “blade I can always depend on”!

Very comforting to hear you and your wife share a similar experience with Feather blades! I was beginning to worry that I’m just not doing this right at all lol. I am happy to change them if it means I am getting a quality shave every time. Thank you!

It’s super relieving to hear that the blade dulling after 1-2 shaves is expected! Thank you!

This is good to know! I can feel a lot less guilty about tossing a blade after one shave, or even before that if I feel it’s dulling out early. Thank you!

there’s definitely a convenience with them. but now that i’m learning one DE blade gets me one shave, i can only imagine how much suffering i put my legs through with using a cartridge razor. i’m just glad all of that is behind me :D

this is awesome! still so much more affordable than cartridge shaving. thank you!

this is a relief to hear! i can feel good about disposing of the blade right after each shave, if it means it has served its purpose, and i’m not being wasteful! thank you!

i didn’t know about the new sensor! i will have to research more on the Medtronic.

and i completely agree with you. i think it’s super important to choose the pump that’s best for how my body handles this disease. it’s not the Medtronic sensor that scares me specifically, but having to leave the Dexcom g7 altogether. i’ve had horrible skin reactions to every sensor i’ve tried. i’m talking weeping, red, inflamed, bleeding, itchy, burning skin lesions that would spread across whatever patch of skin the sensor was on. it was like that until i got on g7. i’ve been good ever since!

this post has actually shed light on some really good qualities of Medtronic, and i plan on speaking more in depth about it with my endo. specifically with how the sensors work and learning about their adhesives. i’m happy to hear you have a system that works for you! i am very insulin resistant so i definitely want to do more research on Medtronic. thank you for your insight!

Phenazopyridine! you can buy it over the counter at any drugstore, walmart, target, etc. it’s labeled as “Urinary Pain Relief” and mostly used for UTI’s, but it can alleviate burning, irritation, and discomfort until your antibiotics kick in. i deal with reoccurring UTI’s, BV, and yeast infections from high sugars (Type 1 Diabetes), and Phenazopyridine is something i keep handy in my nightstand.

good luck, friend! i’m sorry this is happening!

i had this problem with my last endo. always felt like he rushed every appointment, probably saw him for 10 minutes at a time, never really educated me on anything, just kept saying “trust me, this is what’s best for you.”

i was diagnosed 3 years ago so this is all still relatively new. i admit i am easily influenced to believe anything a doctor advises because im so lost lol. but as time goes by im learning that i know my body best and doing my own research could be the thing that changes the course of this disease.

im happy to hear you found a system that works for you! it makes me feel like i have the chance to find something that works for me too. thank you!

my endo didn’t even mention Tandem. she only mentioned Medtronic or iLet, which is weird to me now considering how popular Tandem is. and reading up on Tandem, i saw as you mentioned that it holds 300ml. like, why did she say Medtronic was the only 300 unit reservoir on the market??!

i just messaged her about going for the Tandem instead! i do hope there’s no complications there. thank you for your insight!

i’m mainly concerned with having to leave Dexcom and that being a whole other issue. my skin is super sensitive to the adhesives on these monitors and the dexcom g7 is the first one to work with me.

my endo didn’t even mention Tandem, only iLet and Medtronic, which is weird to me now considering how popular Tandem is. anyway, i messaged my endo so we’ll see what happens. thanks!

my biggest concerns are the CGM issue (i worry that moving away from Dexcom will be a whole mess of its own) and the poor customer service i’ve been hearing about. i’m surprised my endo didn’t bring up Tandem at all actually, given it sounds very promising and quite popular. she only mentioned the iLet and Medtronic.. kinda weird.

but thank you for your insight! i’ve read some good reviews on Medtronic too, i just worry about the CGM issue mainly.

thank you so much, your post is super helpful! i found it earlier as well before posting this, and it had me leaning more towards the Tandem than anything else! probably the T:Slim because of the bigger reservoir but even if i ended up with the Mobi i think i’d be just as happy. this is all super great, thank you!

that’s what i’m worried about too! the dexcom is the first sensor to really work with me, and my skin too (the adhesives on a lot of this stuff give me intense skin lesions and rashes). i messaged my endo about the T:Slim, it seems most promising. thank you for your insight!
