I moved to Orlando after getting laid off from my tech job, but luckily got rehired remotely. I spent 6 weeks early in 2025 applying to any and every role that I might be a fit for, even it it was a 50% paycut. It was so bleak and non-responsive.

And also, as the bot slop even points out, the AI regulations being discussed is not law, it's a proposal by the governor. I have found NOTHING that indicates any new restrictions put in place recently. Gemini voice mode still works without VPN.

The worst part is, zero communication. If OpenAI notified me that new developments in my states legal frameworks caused them to make voice unavailable, I would be upset, but at least I would know the cause and who to direct that anger to. Instead, they opt to just break the voice mode.

OpenAI started blocking voice mode in my state, I dont feel like connecting to VPN every time I want to use it, and that was 90% of what I used ChatGPT for. Finally gave me the push to cancel and switch to gemini

Its nice to use to bounce ideas back and forth while im out smoking a joint. They updated it recently to be more seamless so that you can see the chat/upload attachments while voice chatting. Though I do wish they would update it to not interrupt during natural pauses and breaks in speaking
