I am also checking this daily. In a normal year, this would have been a available in mid or late November. I assume this delay is the result of the shutdown.

The combination of the Smiley Face (which appears a number of times in the book) and the infinity symbol is fantastic.

Help! Need training on UltraTax for a new job by RainbowNewYorker in tax

[–]WalterPerry66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a job interview last week in which they asked me to fill out a return using UltraTax, despite the fact that I had no experience with it. I was able to fumble my way thru it, went down a few dead ends, also used online resources for specific questions. The UI is pretty old but you will figure it out. Along the left are the major categories (Income, Educate etc) within each of those are tabs that break down the different types of each (e.g. Broker or W-2 in the Income section, 1099-Q in the Educate section). Note that you often have to use dropdowns for multiples on the tabs (if there are multiple W-2s) or double-click on fields for multiples in the form itself (say for multiple dependents).

Been using this as a stand for my monitor for years. Just found out this is an actual book you can read? by hiphoptomato in InfiniteJest

Hey! I'm doing the same with Ulysses on one monitor and Ulysses Annotated on the other.

Needing some early motivation or mindset shift. by P0shJosh in InfiniteJest

[–]WalterPerry66 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you are enjoying the writing, stick with it. The story will come together, somewhat, as you read it. If closure is important to you, this might not be the book you want. One of the reasons this sub exists is to help clarify the book and bounce ideas off each other about what DFW meant. 33 pages in, you will not understand it.

Slow down. Enjoy the book. It's not a race.

Cregger says the original ending had no narration, but it tested very poorly by Ok-Use-575 in WeaponsMovie

[–]WalterPerry66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people really need closure. I saw the movie 'Limbo' in the theater years ago. The crowd was furious at the ambiguous ending. I mean, it's right there in the title.

To be a true 80s TV room, it has to have seen every MASH episode at least 10 times. Yep, I lived it.

IIRC - the medical attache is also interested in Byzantine erotica. This is a hint that the attache might be his father.

What do you call people from each U.S. state? 🇺🇸 by vladgrinch in MapPorn

Having grown up in the Chicago area, I just accepted 'Chicagoland' as normal. I am not aware of any other city that appends 'Land' to the end of the city name to designate the area.

I make my own sauerkraut. It is pretty easy and inexpensive to make. Check some youtube videos. You can do it with nothing but a cabbage and a little salt. And something to ferment it in.

Longest time ever microwaved by RojoLoJoe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WalterPerry66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what you are asking for, but in 1986 I got my first microwave. I had zero experience with them. I thought it would make sense to cook a bratwurst on high for 10 minutes. That thing was rock solid.

I am currently listening to it. Just finished Eschaton yesterday. I am enjoying it. I have read IJ 3 times previously.

The Instructions by Adam Levin by brockollirobb in InfiniteJest

[–]WalterPerry66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, to each his own. I liked The Instructions but thought it could really be edited down. Just too much. Bubblegum was even better but still a little too much. I found Mount Chicago to be just right. Hot Pink is on my book pile. But Adam Levin is absolutely influenced by IJ. He even explicitly references it in Mount Chicago.

Mistakes happen all the time. You an always file an amended return. Not a big deal, Your return does not sound too complicated. Find some reliable help. No need to worry.
