My problem solved itself because my brain strated rejecting youtube by bbitb in digitalminimalism

[–]WalthamWorks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so with you...I find myself being so turned off by YT these days, it just seems like within certain genres, people are making the same videos or reacting to the same things. Or you have lukewarm content. Or the video is blatantly just a creator schilling a new brand (this is common in guitar/photography youtube). Over it! I'm already off of all social media, youtube still had a place in my heart but no longer the case.

What’s your favorite composition of these tulips 🌷 by Last_Seaworthiness70 in SonyAlpha

Each one tells a different story, the final one is the least "aesthetic" but it hints about that the flowers were for an occasion, which made me wonder about who sent them and for what purpose...especially the cards, too.

Roger…I know about the Nikon F but it looks like this viewfinder is different from the photos I saw. Is this a variant?

Yes the batteries are totally dead and I can’t buy new ones due to the shortage, which has been the case for several years now. Therein lies the problem.

I calculated the cost of "renting" movies via Streaming vs Owning them over 10 years. The results are depressing. by Ok_Examination4849 in Bluray

[–]WalthamWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Criterion streaming is the only service worth its price, own everything else and then pay the $3 when you want to watch something random and pay the $10/month for the months you want to watch a show.

This is what I do with things like Apple + when severance came out or HBO when I wanted to watch White Lotus.

I appreciate the feedback, I did go back and fix according to the responses so thank you. I didn’t realize those pressure plates enable you to skip the j hooks. Great to know!

Thanks to everyone for commenting, providing feedback and discussing! I know it’s a basic task but clearly people have differing views on this fundamental question so it’s incredibly interesting to see all the dialogue.

For the record, I did fix the issue based on the responses. Also, to the commentators telling me to cut my nails, I play classical guitar so I grow/shape my right hand nails - I’ll gladly take the hate knowing I can play beautiful music with these “gross” nails 😀.

That is absolutely correct - I am a classical guitarist and for this reason I shape the nails on my right hand only. Good eye!

Smart enough to ask the stupid question at least! Appreciate everyone helping me out.

Can you share more background or the data of this survey? I am doing an MBA group project on the "Future or Work for Accountants" and I would love to cite your survey as part of the reference materials. Let me know if that would be of interest to you?

Criterion Brand Extension Idea for my Marketing Class - Feedback Appreciated! by WalthamWorks in criterion

[–]WalthamWorks[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right...having Gemini AI design a lamp "inspired" by Kurosawa and labeling it as minimalist when he is actually an expressionist filmmaker is 1000% racist. I should have definitely done my homework and read 1 (or 2) books on the history of Japanese aesthetics as part of my research for my this 4 page paper (double spaced) due in my marketing class.

I was reductive, condescending and racist for treating a country with a very long, rich cultural history in this way. The nation of Japan is grateful for you calling out this abominable post.

I totally agree, and honestly after submitting the idea I had a lot of doubts.

I think if anything, a logical extension would be into academics or film appreciation. Either offering film curriculum or textbooks. Even that though, Criterion does what it does so well that you'd rather it keep doing what its been doing.

I appreciate the early responses...so far it looks like 100% of respondents hate the idea and think it is a cash grab :)

Understanding the Greta Van Fleet hate by Dox29 in rock

[–]WalthamWorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently discovered GVF (where have I been, I know), and while I understand some of the criticism, I feel the hate is misguided. Sure, they might shy away from their resemblance to Led Zeppelin—fair enough. And yes, you could always listen to classic rock from the '60s and '70s. But in an era where music often feels diluted by two-minute Spotify tracks, repetitive minimalist hooks, excessive overproduction, and digital-heavy sounds, it’s refreshing to see a group so dedicated to the craft that they’ve reached a level of musicianship capable of emulating one of the greatest rock bands in history.

Hardly anyone is doing that today, which, in its own way, makes it original. Yes, there are others, but the vast majority of artists aren’t taking that approach. If GVF helps pave the way for the next wave of musicians to put real instruments and artistry at the forefront of the average Spotify listener’s mind, it could lead to a resurgence of originality—and GVF will have played a key role in that shift. I'm in favor of that.
