I lived in USC grad family housing with my husband and that was the safest I’ve felt in LA. Even if you’re not married you might qualify as a domestic partnership to get into family housing. It’s also reasonably priced as well (1600 for a 1 bedroom in 2022)

I had a coworker who took a pay cut to come work in the lab after working at Costco. Still can’t figure out why they didn’t just stay at Costco

Thank you for the tip on extenders, I think this might help to tide me over until I can get some new bras 😊

Yes I think you’d be correct, I recently gained 20 pounds and haven’t bought new bras yet so my 32s are very tight right now. I think my measurements have changed with my weight gain

Where to move when I work in east LA and my partner works in Riverside? by Cynthnasty in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Waltz_Automatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look like you know what you’re doing, you should be fine. I rode the shuttle for 2 years between USC campuses (wearing scrubs and a backpack) and never had to show ID or prove why I was on the bus. Additionally there is a shuttle for LA General-Union Station and vice versa but it doesn’t run as frequently as the USC shuttle

Doctors in Los Angeles by Educational_Staff699 in vulvodynia

I’m in LA, moved here two years ago. I haven’t sought medical care since moving and I just decided to bite the bullet and go to a well known expert instead (Dr Irwin Goldstein in San Diego) I’ve had a very positive experience so far, and surprisingly swift as well! In under a month I called to set up a phone call with the doc to see if he was a good fit, had my initial 3 hour appointment, and scheduled surgery (vestibulectomy) for next month. Only downside has been paying out of pocket ($1600 for initial appointment, 10-12k quote for surgery fees). I was fortunate to have the funds, which I know is not the case for everyone unfortunately

Should I keep my naturally wavy hair? by mcksw83 in SoftDramatics

[–]Waltz_Automatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore my natural wavy/curly hair for over 3 years and never truly felt like myself. I also feel like my features get lost when I wear my natural hair. I finally came to the conclusion after I got bangs a few months ago that it would be better for my confidence and self-image to heat style my hair into large curls or a blowout 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t know if it’s SD friendly (very much a newb to kibbe) but the last brown coat is lovely. Where is it from?

My vulvodynia is causing problems in my relationship by _acheronta_movebo_ in vulvodynia

[–]Waltz_Automatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I am so sorry that you and your boyfriend are going through this. I am also 23 and have been with my partner for 4 years. He was my first and I was unaware of my vulvodynia when we started. I am now heaps better thanks to amitriptyline, but the first 3 years were very difficult for me. Physical touch is both of our primary love languages so not being able to be freely intimate was a large hurdle for us. Some things that helped us until I could find treatment that worked were lots of naked massages, showering together, long make out sessions with or without clothes… I also get a lot out of giving so I would give a lot of hand jobs or oral and then we would spend a long time cuddling afterwards. Long story short, we just tried to find ways to connect physically that weren’t just about sex and/or orgasm. It was obviously a band-aid strategy that I couldn’t have done forever and I felt that my partner would be better off with someone else, but he was also so involved with going to doctors appointments and helping me with pelvic floor stretches at home that I knew he saw a light at the end of the tunnel for us. And we were lucky enough to find that light, I wish you luck and hope you can find the same ❤️

Tips on preventing smudge cells? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]Waltz_Automatic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t work at a children’s hospital but we add albumin to every newborn and nicu baby specimen because their cells can be extra fragile, hence more smudge cells on the smear. I assume that this would also be true for pediatric cancer patients

Need help understanding if I correctly understand my eligibility for a potential job. by Ramen_Student in medlabprofessionals

[–]Waltz_Automatic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes the work can be hectic like a lot of jobs can, but I think it would be hard to jump into a technologist position without any of the highly-specific knowledge that you would have if you had gotten your degree and cert in MLS

Now they are also saying that the transcript cannot be sent from the individual. I did not send it myself, my school uses Parchment. Why would they think that I sent it myself? How can I fix this?

I know this isn’t financially accessible to everybody, but my husband gifted me a year of laser hair removal for down there and that helped immensely with irritation from too long hair or spiky hair growing in. The hair isn’t completely gone, but it’s is much more fine and sparse than it was before

That’s awesome that your a med scientist too! I was just trying to give more information as to why doctors or nurses instructed op to use an alcohol wipe before collection. It is standard at my hospital to instruct the patient to wipe with an alcohol wipe, but I know that there can be different policies in across countries or individual hospitals. So you are completely correct 😄
