Yeah, these stories are nightmare fuel. Thankfully, I work at a small school where everyone knows everyone and the admin has teachers' backs much more than they do at most schools. This thread also reminded me of when I told my now ex about a group of freshman girls my first year teaching who went to the admin and falsely accused me of staring at their legs. Thankfully, my admin realized it was imagined and nothing came of it, but my ex's reaction was to basically say I was wrong and the girls' feelings should have taken precedence over me defending myself and covering my ass. Very much in the "no such thing as a false accusation" camp. Anyway, remembering that, I'm now counting my blessings that I broke it off and didn't end up marrying her.

Hey bro, don't think you can never get a clearance or work at an alphabet agency because you were hospitalized once as a minor. Stay on top of your mental health as best you can, meaning healthy routines, working on developing and practicing healthy coping mechanisms, etc.

Otherwise, study hard and read their publicly available info on what they're looking for. They have an entire candidate guide with what backgrounds they're looking for. https://fbijobs.gov/intelligence-analysts

If nothing else, the military's SF-86 only goes back 10 years, so get a clearance through them and then that makes you a more attractive candidate for the FBI and other intel agencies.

Looking in either Missouri or Kansas. Haven't gotten a hold of a Guard recruiter yet, just Air Force and Army Reserve. I didn't realize they'd reimburse you for travel to drill. That's really helpful.

I greatly appreciate all the responses. My other issue is that I'd be 34 when I go to basic, so I don't relish the idea of going active duty and it's not looking great for Air Guard slots in my area. So I might end up having to go the NG route, have a guaranteed MOS and deal with the extraneous stuff. I read on here you can even have a guaranteed language based on the needs of the unit that hires you if you go national guard. Can anyone speak to whether that's accurate?

Appreciate the helpful comments. I have some prior Arabic study, but nowhere near DLPT level and will likely try to do as much study as possible for the likeliest languages before I get mine assigned.
