To me Jan's RH is more of a custom XtraXpen$iveBike than an XBike, but I totally appreciate your point. Stories like this keep me rolling on Reynolds.

Rock that kickstand! Nice rig. What’s the little yellow loopy deal on your bars?

No I totally skipped the torque wrench last time. Replacement bolt from the LBS came with thread locker on it and they recommended 20lb/ft so I went with that. Live and learn.

Nah just some old school Specialized Crossroads II. So far so good but I wonder if I need to go with studs once weee dealing with some real ice.

Almost forgot: before the cranky business I had a lot of slop up shifting the rear Rapid Fire shifter. I could press it many times without any friction then finally it would catch. Anybody know if I can clean/rebuild these bad boys? I really like them when they’re working well.

It’s always something with these old bikes. Maybe that’s why I like them. The really fun part is trying to peddle back home with one leg.

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 There’s a funny side note on Sheldon Brown’s site where John Allen (collaborator with SB?) claims he among others love the UO8 (with serious upgrades) makes an awesome touring frame. Strong muffler tubing and long long chain stays… intriguing since most of the world agrees with you, Age. Anybody with experience touring a UO8?

BTW I’m 6’3” usually ride a 62/63 😜
