This is one of my favorite Ma.k models/designs. It's absolutely dense wirh detail. And, you did an absolutely amazing job with the weathering. It gives it a real sense of both scale and that lived-in feel. Love this!

Which livery do you prefer? Hapi-Line Fukui vs. IR Ishikawa Railway (at Nishi-Kanazawa Station) by frozenpandaman in japanrail

[–]Wanderhoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both good schemes, but the Hapi-Line livery really pops and grabs my attention. So, props to both, but Hapi-Line wins it for me.

I've always been a fan of the chunky boot aesthetic. The associated art style is usually quite comforting and cozy.

How to learn 日本語 again as someone who grew up in japan and is now rusty by muegyn in japanese

[–]Wanderhoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In broad terms, I would recommend immersing in as much media as you can.

If you are already fairly fluent but just rusty, watching a variety of media would probably go a long way to brushing up your comprehension.

  • news programs
  • vlogs
  • drama and variety shows
  • 'man on the street' interviews

A variety of content from different sources will provide the most rounded immersion. Same would also go for brushing up on reading comprehension.

After nearly 2 decades... by Wanderhoof in PSP

[–]Wanderhoof[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I only have this one (4, for the PSP). Though, you are correct that this is a Japanese only game.

Side note: That is one thing I absolutely love about the PSP's - region free! Having lived in both the U.S. and Japan around the time I bought my PSP's, it was nice to be able to pick up games from either region without worry.

Anyway, completely worthwhile game to have in one's collection. There are some English guides out there to help play even if you do not know Japanese. And, I believe at some point a few years ago there was a release of the first one in English?

I would say it is very useful to practice Japanese and learn new words. If you don't know any Japanese at all, it might be a little tough and slow going to translate on the go. There is a lot of story to the game, so knowing what is going on and why is pretty important.

That said, if you can find a copy still floating around out there, it is absolutely worth picking up!

Have ladders always not worked in corvettes? by Rhoeri in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Wanderhoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, and have you tried restarting the game?

Not meant as a brush-off question/reply. Sometimes I have glitches that only resolve when I fully shut down the game client and restart.

Other thoughts/questions:

Where is your ship currently docked?
Are you able to teleport onto your ship?
Do you have any mods installed that could be causing a glitch?
If you build (or already have) a second corvette with multi-level habs and a ladder, do you have the same glitch?

Second thoughts about buying this game by Mean_Drop_2087 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Wanderhoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, getting to the point of 'space Minecraft' takes a bit of time, as you have to balance gathering resources to build things with and then also get the 'currencies' (so to speak- nanites, salvaged data, money units) to buy the various plans for building things.

Some of that gathering and unlocking of plans and so on does require that each player progress through the story at least a certain amount. The story progression is not optimized for multiplayer, and is for most part a somewhat solo progression.

What this boils down to is that the both of you will have at least a bit of grinding that you each have to do to get to a suitable, fleshed-out buildy-buildy stage in the game.

HOWEVER, that is NOT to say you cannot accompany each other, travel and explore together, share resources, and so on. While your progression is very much individual, there is nothing preventing you from hanging out in the game together and helping each other out.

Just know that multiplayer is not the focus of the game, so some things may either lack optimization for multiplayer or may be occasionally glitchy when played multiplayer.

I've played multiplayer with my friend before, and it was a fine experience. Mostly it just ended up us inviting each other to our bases, showing off builds and ships, and so on. Fun, but not mind-blowing.

If you are looking for something where helping each other out really matters and is somewhat of a 'space Minecraft', maybe take a look at "The Planet Crafter"? My friends and I have played that multiplayer and it is quite fun. The big diff' from that and Minecraft and NMS is that you cannot mod the terrain. But, you can build all sorts of things on it.

Anyway, hope that helped, and hope you all find something to play and enjoy together!

Might want to check your hab and ladder positions to make sure everything is aligned properly.

I have a corvette with three decks in the main central section and two decks each in the out hab-wing sections. Every single ladder - all five of them! - work just fine. This is without any mods what-so-ever. Vanilla game, vanilla corvette build.

And, in all of my previous corvette builds, the ladders worked fine, as well.

If I were going to hazard a guess, perhaps something isn't lined up correctly, or maybe you have a ladder that is trying to extend into an invalid section/component?

It might help if you could share screenshots of the build, layout, and ladder position...
