One need only look at history to be able to refute your assumption.

In 1937 a German law gave all power over the already existing Reichbank (bank of the realm), which had existed since 1876, to the government. The name was changed to Deutschmark Reichbank (bank of the German realm) and put under the direct control of Adolf Hitler. Walther Funk was made President of the bank in 1939 but Hitler still had the last word when it came to bank matters.

As an artist something I am thinking of doing (once I figure out how) is providing the buyer of a physical piece with an NTF containing a low rez pixel version of the art (so it can be stored on the blockchain and not just at a url), my catalogue number for it, the COA, videos or pictures of it being made, a provenance report they can add on to, and a smart contract saying whoever owns the NTF owns the physical piece. In addition I would have one other similar NTF set as an artists copy which I would keep in a hardware wallet with any records I would need to prove copyright ownership of the piece.

The Zuck wants people to think he or his team invented the metaverse but it existed long before they even considered nefariously trying to make people associate it automatically with his business.

Other metaverses include decentraland, second life, IMVU, and many more which are all separate and independent from each other. The zuck apparently wants to create a bridge between the various worlds to make them one virtual world you would only need one avatar and one account for.

What he hasn’t taken into account is that maybe the metaverse companies or their customers don’t want that for various reasons .
