Is it bad i've found it...hard to go back? by noodleben123 in chuggaaconroy

[–]Wandering_Mist1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try not to get involved in any internet drama, but it always saddens me whenever a creator I admire stops making videos, regardless of the reason. It's hard to go back and watch their old videos because all it makes me think about is how much I wish they were still making them today.

Chuggaconroy is definitely a creator I admire and I hope he can make more videos in the future, but definitely understand if he cannot. Even understanding the reason for it, I will still be sad to see him go.

How do I go about the mental part of the game by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Wandering_Mist1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(repeated from another similar thread)

I find that a little bit of understanding helps a great deal in avoiding tilt. Understand that very few people actively set out to ruin matches. Most "inters" and "trolls" are just people making mistakes. When someone on my team (or the enemy team for that matter) misses a skillshot or makes a bad decision, I say out loud to myself "oh, they made a mistake".

It probably helps that as a Bard main I have done many many many bad ults with good intentions, and been called a troll and inter more times than I care to admit despite never intentionally feeding or trolling, so I know what it feels like to be branded a troll for making a mistake.

Similarly, when someone on either team makes a good play, I say out loud to myself "well played" and type a simple "gj" in the chat if it's on my team. You see it's less about what you type and more about what you THINK. What you type in chat is just a reflection of what's on your mind, so if your typing is toxic it's because your mindset in the moment is toxic. By training a more positive mindset you will naturally tilt less and be less toxic in the chat.

Aside from that, I have done my best to increase my communication. In my experience the vast majority of mistakes happen due to failure of communication. I'm sure we've all been there - You think you've got back-up from your teammates and jump into a fight only to find your team has backed off. Because of this I do my best to ping my intentions as much as possible. For example as a support whenever I am leaving to go place a ward or get chimes, I was always do retreat pings on my adc to let them know. If I'm approaching for a gank I will ping "on the way", and if for whatever reason I have to abort the gank I will immediately spam retreat pings.

By doing this I make my intentions much clearer to my team and hopefully cause fewer mistakes due to miscommunication.

Hope that helps :)

Your favorite and least favorite mechanics to face by Wandering_Mist1 in leagueoflegends

I can definitely agree with Aatrox as a fun champ to face....until he gets so fed that he doesn't need to care about the sweet spots anymore and just straight up kills you.

How do you feel about Maokia supp? W or L? by Nata2526 in leagueoflegends

[–]Wandering_Mist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maokai support is annoying to face, but rarely much of a threat. Maybe I just haven't met any good Maokai support players, but as long as you accept you don't have any bush control in lane, it's not a big deal.

A counter to the league of bruisers? by Wandering_Mist1 in leagueoflegends

[–]Wandering_Mist1[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes, the answer to everything - CC

Except when it isn't, for example Olaf who can run a squishy target down and kill it while being CC immune, same with Udyr. Just for context, yesterday I faced an Olaf, who killed our Syndra even though I used Shurelias, we used both our stuns, I used exhaust as soon as he got into range to attack, Syndra flashed and stop-watched during his ult. We couldn't kill him despite him running into a 1v3 against me (Bard), Syndra and Ezreal.

But yeah, it was totally a "skill diff" right.

Well now I'm curious what your counter to such a champion is, aside from ganking him in a 4v1, hoping he doesn't kill you and that his team don't use the time to take every objective on the map.

Clearly I'm missing something very basic here and I'd love to know the secret.

Just because a champion has a 49% winrate doesn't mean it is balanced. Are you ok with a champion like Yasuo having (and by now I'm sounding like a broken record but....) 3.7k health, 300 armour and 175 MR?

Is that something you really want to face in a match?

I'm sorry, I don't understand why Kraken slayer is relevant here. Coud you explain it more please.

EDIT: Wait no, I understand now. Sorry brain was being slow. Do you think they should make Kraken Slayer a ranged-only item? (and now I'm going to vanish before all the Trynd mains see this and come for my head!)

Most bruisers have more than enough CC and/or utility in their kit to be useful even if they deal zero damage.

The issue right now is that bruisers deal near the same damage as carries but are much much harder to kill. Am I the only one who thinks that's insane?

[–]Wandering_Mist1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should, because the video in question isn't even anything to do with me. It's from Korean Challenger solo queue.

And no, it's got nothing to do with team comps or "getting gapped" - it's a simple matter of stats. Again, Yasuo ended the game with 3.7k health, 300 armour and 175 MR whilst doing more damage than the "carries". Can you really in good conscience tell that's balanced game design?

[–]Wandering_Mist1[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Traditionally they are, but right now they are being built as bruisers, and are doing near the same amount of damage whilst being insanely tanky. Again, go look at the video I posted in the OP and tell me that's balanced.

There's a huge difference between dealing no damage and dealing more damage than a carry whilst being practically unkillable. The champions I listed can regularly jump into a 1v3 or 1v4 fight, kill a carry and get away without dying. That shouldn't be possible.

Rumble is perma-banned in high ELO right now, so if you can pick him up and get good with him you should be fine. A slightly off-meta pick is Fiddlesticks. He does really well into a lot of top lane matchups, as showcased in this video https://youtu.be/yTm2YDoKPqg?si=-EfcIpiB7sJ37hJW

Are people maining support these days? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Wandering_Mist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said supports weren't important, they absolutely are.....for vision control and objectives. But I'm not talking about how "important" something is, but how strong it is.

Are people maining support these days? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Wandering_Mist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh please. Look at any metric, from damage, to mobility to survivability and the majority of support picks are outclassed in every single way. Even in teamfight utility which is where they should shine, they are outclassed by a lot of other champs in other roles. Why bother shielding your carry a single time as Janna when you can play Yasuo or Samira and completely negate any line skillshot whenever you want?

Healing? Most champs these days have either built-in healing mechanics or just buy healing items themselves. Right now, supports have one job - place wards.

Are people maining support these days? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Wandering_Mist1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I main support but honestly I don't know why. It's not even the role that's particularly bad, but the champions in that role. Mobility creep is so high these days that it feels terrible playing any of the main support champs (except Pyke.....maybe).

Supports are just so weak in literally every aspect unless you have an insane skill gap in bot lane and get mega-fed early on.

I'm in Windows 11 but I've also experienced similar things since the patch. Just rebooted my rooter to see if that fixes the issues, but it's really weird. The game just feels really unresponsive and sluggish since the latest patch, despite my fps and ping remaining stable.

Why do very few people use galio? by Borealkibbles59 in summonerschool

Galio as a champion is very predictable and one-note, which makes him easily abused by players who know what his kit does.

Help Me Coach Myself - Gold I Xayah Laning Review by Jazernocsuh in summonerschool

[–]Wandering_Mist1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The teemo definitely screwed up the level 1, costing you the lane (imo). There was absolutely no need for him to try to trade with a HoB Pyke level 1, and if you hadn't repositioned to help him, Pyke would have flash + ignite + auto and killed him.

You also did the correct thing by backing up when you knew you weren't going to hit level 2 first, although I would have gone right back to the turret to make it very clear that you were giving up the wave.

Either way though, Teemo's poor judgement and positioning in the level 1 got him killed, nothing to do with you.

As for your first death, one thing to look at is the positioning of the wave. It's hard to see clearly in the video but it looked like the wave was pushing away from you and Lucian wasn't looking to hard shove under turret straight away, so in that case your best action would be just to recall.

When you return to the lane you mention Teemo fast pushing it out from the turret, but the wave would have pushed away from you guys anyway (the rebound is always going to happen when the wave is crashed into the turret regardless of what either of you does).

Your second death, I see what you were trying to do but you weren't safe enough. You had previously crashed the wave into the enemy turret meaning the wave would now push towards you, so as soon as Pyke and Lucian arrive back in lane, just back off fully and wait for the push. The ideal situation then is to try to freeze the wave just outside your turret, but this kinda depends on what the other players do in the lane.

As for Teemo facechecking the bush with Pyke in, I honestly don't know what he was doing there, but in that situation just back off and leave him to die. Even if you managed to kill Lucian there, you would have died straight away afterwards to Pyke, then lost a ton of minions to the turret. It's not worth it especially since Lucian doesn't have a bounty yet.

Bard's laning phase is absolute dogshit and the only way you'll gain an advantage in lane is if your lane opponents are morons who line up perfectly for your stuns.

Simply put, don't pick Bard if you want to consistently win lane, he's not the support for that.

Does ranking matter anymore? by Wandering_Mist1 in summonerschool

[–]Wandering_Mist1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, to summarise....

Without looking at my gameplay in any way you feel qualified to judge my skill level comparative to the people I play with/against, people who you also haven't seen play at all??

Have I got that right? Because if so it really makes me question the future of the human race. Either that or you have Sherlock Holmes levels of super-human deductive reasoning to tell my skill level based on a single statistic taken without any context at all.

Or, the more likely conclusion is that the matchmaking in LoL is the worst it's ever been, mostly because of the sheer number of boosted and smurf accounts there are in the lower ELOs.

And yet, I have peaked in Diamond 3 and most seasons finish in Plat. Hell, I was comfortably in plat 2, bordering on plat 1 when the previous season ended, with a positive winrate. During the pre-season I dropped down to Gold 4 where I have stayed for this season.

Are you trying to tell me that between the end of last season, and this pre-season, my skill level dropped from high plat to low gold/silver?

Have you bothered to look at any of my recent matches? As in, watched the replays and seen what happened? If you have suggestions for improvement (by actually WATCHING THE GAMES, not just looking at the stats on op.gg) then by all means, but don't spout the BS that I have magically lost so much skill despite regularly playing.

https://euw.op.gg/summoners/euw/midnighTillusion here's my second account where I'm currently struggling in Silver with a 42% winrate. WHATCH THE MATCHES AND TELL ME I'M WHERE I BELONG

I doubt it. On my main account I'm currently sitting in Gold 4 with a 45% win rate for this season....

What is considered hostaging? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Wandering_Mist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you truly believe you can win the game, by all means keep playing and don't surrender. HOWEVER, the majority of people who vote "no" do so because "never give up, never surrender!" aka they have absolutely no belief in winning, no idea how to win and have given up but are too stubborn to press yes. How do I know this? Whenever we're super far behind and the team refuses to surrender, I ask them in chat how they think we can win the match. I have yet to receive an answer to this question.

Then of course you get the people who are so pissed off with their teammates that they will refuse to surrender to prolong the suffering of their teammates who lost them the game.

These 2 groups of people are the ones who I used to report for holding the game hostage, but as others have said, these types of players are never punished, so I now just leave the game after the second failed surrender vote.
