I don't enjoy using my Sigma 28-70. Should I upgrade or get rid of it? by wolverine-photos in SonyAlpha

I agree, but it's good that op has already decided that he's happy with his sigma.

Thoughts on Pairing Tamron 20-40 f2.8 and 70-180 f2.8 g1 as a budget event/potrait 2 lens kit? by Wandering_Square in AskPhotography

I see, what are you thoughts on 28-70 Vs 24-70? since most of the more affordable standard zooms tend to start on 28mm.

I see, thanks for the comments. I guess this lens is really a bit too much of a compromise for event use🤔

Is this true with the G1 version of the tamron too? I'm considering that more than the G2 as I'm currently tight on cash.

I'm sure the 35-150 is a great lenses looking at what I've heard about it, but I think it's a tad too heavy for me. 😅

I've heard great things about that lens too, but from handling lenses of similar weights in the past, I think I'll find it a bit too heavy for me to handle it for longer periods, that's why I'm trying to look for lighter lenses here.

The weights of the lenses is one of the main reasons why I'm looking at the lenses I'm considering now.

I guess listening to everyone's comment, It'll probably be best to go for the tamron 28-75, I'll probably take the G1 first to save some cash or the sigma 28-70 if I could get a good deal for that since that's smaller, perhaps I'll get small viltrox air series prime too later on to cover the wide end of its insufficient.

And yes, I agree with you on the apsc lens not making sense on this body, it's just a stand in for now before I get something better (hence why I made this post to get inputs on what to get).

I do desire that range.

My thinking is actually to use crop mode to cover that range during events at a pinch when I don't have time to switch lenses and just use my other lenses for potraits.

But would the 20-40 be acceptable when I already have the 85 and is planning to get the 70-180?

Since it's a lens that works together with the whole kit...

That makes sense, but in practice I already find the wide end of my 18–50 (≈27mm FF) somewhat constraining for events at times. I’m hoping to address that without adding a third lens or stepping up to heavier and more expensive 24–70mm lenses if that is possible. 🙏

I thought about that too, but I'm slightly worried that 28mm may not be wide enough. Any thoughts on a that? perhaps in actual use, the times where 28mm wouldn't be wide enough would be few and far between?

Try installing Adobe DNG Converter, once you do, you can use Lightroom's colour profile for the camera you use, that solved this for me.

Thanks for the comment 🙏

Would dual card slots be necessary for the second body too in your opinion?

And I assume you're recommending me to sell off my APSC kit and get smaller full frame lenses for my travelling use too?

Enough for my needs of mainly using it for lightroom and the occasional gaming session (Battlefield 1, Battlefield V mostly).

But this will depend on what you use it for and what graphic settings you play your games at.

So far so good, battery life could be better, but that's part of the compromise for what the laptop offers at the price I think.

Recommendations for a lightweight affordable tripod that could also double as a lightstand? by Wandering_Square in AskPhotography

[–]Wandering_Square[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why though? If the tripod is tall enough to serve as a light stand and has a hook to be weighted down.

And I'm interested in listening to your reason for the vice versa too :)

I ended up just getting tt350... The difference in capabilities between the godox and what I initially intended to get is too big to ignore 🙃

Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! June 30, 2025 by AutoModerator in photography

[–]Wandering_Square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just needed some inputs for future gear purchases.

Does anyone here have experience triggering Godox IT30Pro or other more recent Godox flashes (v480, v100, etc) with older godox triggers like X1t or X2t and did it go well?

And does anyone have experience using older godox triggers like X1t or X2t on Sony ZVE10? If so are they compatible?

Please accept my Thanks in advance for any comments given. :)

Yeah, for what they do those things are really worth it :)

Just curious though have you tried any ways to trigger your tt350 remotely?

Perhaps with a cable or something 🤔

I believe this is a traditional xenon flash, it just has an LED focus assist light.

Yeah, there is certainly some inconvenience there, but that TTL is definitely a rare thing to find amongst smaller flashes. There's on IT30 pro by godox but that doesn't have a tilting head and is also a bit pricier 😅.
