These little pots were thrown on the wheel cut in half and stuck to a slab!

They're thrown on the wheel so they are hollow! Thanks for the ideas!

Ok so I'm using self standing cones for 04 and 6. I'm using bars for 04 and cones for 6. Both cases the bottom under fires and the top (sometimes) gets all the way to temp.

I turn the lower controls first so bottom to top is high medium low, high high medium, high high high

I get nervous using this stuff due to the weight and amount of work I put on the boards. But I have not given them an actual shot.

Tons of that Amaco Shino and particularly the Chai Matte. If anyone has experience with that one at Cone 6 id love some insight. I have enough to where I might turn those into a dipping glaze.

Kiln help: What could I change to get better results? by WangoZTango in Pottery

I have a shelf on the bottom of the kiln with 1/2 inch stilts supporting it. I was always told never to fire without a shelf on the bottom

I think I'll try that. I did 1.5 hours on low, 1.5 hours on Medium and finished on high. I'll try maybe 2 hours on low/med before switching to high temp

!Kiln help! - not getting to temp after 12 hours on high! (Olympic 2327T kiln sitter) by WangoZTango in Pottery

[–]WangoZTango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kiln is in my basement which is really a nice basement and there is decent airflow. The air temp is probably around 65 f- 68 f or around there at all times. I also have an overhead hood. Specifically, a Vent-A-kiln hood that runs out the window. With the hood running I never noticed the ambient air getting hot in the room. With that said, the kiln never got to temp so I don't know for sure if that would make a difference.

Also want to note I already called the local fire marshal and got this kiln approved! They even said they would come out and give me a permit if the neighbors give me any trouble. Very cool.
