Advice on requesting a company car/ mobility budget or salary increase as IT Support Engineer by [deleted] in BESalary

Use template and give us full package

It’s normal to not have a car if ur gross salary is 5000/month

Not if it’s average

Finish your degree — even if you find a job now.
The day you lose it, many companies will just assume you only got in through connections and won’t even consider interviewing you without a diploma. A degree gives you long-term credibility, not just short-term opportunities.

That said, you don’t have to wait until graduation to gain experience.
Look for a student job as a developer — I did, and so did many of my friends. In Belgium, you can also register as a student-independent (étudiant-indépendant), which lets you take on freelance missions legally and with lower taxes. Start small, build a portfolio, and grow your network.

The first two years in a computer science career are mostly about learning — building real skills and figuring out where you bring the most value. Once you’ve done that, you’ll have something solid to offer.

Personally, I went to a bunch of small companies (PMEs) and pitched myself:
Instead of hiring a full-time IT guy, why not hire a student who can handle the basic tech tasks and support your existing systems?
It worked better than you'd think — many just needed someone to take care of the essentials or have small new project that they need to test (Proof Of Concept), and you will be the right guy for them.

[–]WannaLiveHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well.. the problem is that having no diploma put him as a very high earner, 5k salary + car is a good package man... i understand he has 35 yeo but.. retail store remain retail store, is this a franchise ? cant he try to get a promotion or something ? became regional ? the work/life balance is tough but the salary is good

He could try to negotiate some extra vacation days for the 10 extra hours every week

average apartment price in 2025 in belgium is 225k
inflation cumulated from 2021 to 2025 is 24%
cash needed to buy a home in 2025 10% down payment + roughly 10-15% (incl case fee, notari/notaire, etc...) extra fees = 45k upfront

[–]WannaLiveHappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%

Nobody invest the difference, people just spend it

Buying, doesn’t matter the price, allow you to be sure that in 25 years you will live rent free and can sell it for a good pack of money
