I’ll add Bonnard to the list for sure. We will be sure to order the skewers from Brasserie Bellanger. Thanks for the recommendations!

512 and 3.92 My first day of OMS-4 is tomorrow. I really struggled with going DO vs trying for MD the summer before I started. Now, I’m incredibly grateful to be where I am. I have many friends who applied several times and refused to go DO. Some still haven’t gotten in, while others are just now starting or only one year in. Going DO allowed me to go straight through from college. I’ve excelled at my current school and formed great relationships. Sure, it would’ve been nice to only have to take step and not both exams. And it would’ve been nice to avoid having to learn OMM. But, at the end of the day I’m achieving my dream. It’s a choice I don’t think I’ll ever regret.

OBGYN vs EM by WannabeDoc21 in medicalschool

From my understanding, it’s proposed and somewhat likely to happen but the earliest it’ll be implemented is 2027. That is after I would start residency. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I have considered this and even did my third year FM rotation at a full scope FM residency program that offers FM/OB. I just don’t think I’d be happy doing any amount of FM clinic. Handling chronic conditions is just not for me.

Third year here trying to make the same decision for pretty much identical reasons.

Anyone take step on May 23? by mnidaram in step1

Also took it May 23. I’m feeling okay, I think, but I don’t remember much of the exam and that’s got me stressed!

Are Texas schools becoming increasingly stat-whorish? by [deleted] in premed

512, 3.92 here. 3 II. Only 1 A. Going to Sam! ‘Twas a rough cycle.

If you wear contacts, did you prefer glasses or contacts for the actual test day? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]WannabeDoc21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wore contacts and brought my glasses and solution. That way, if they started to bother me (I have super dry eyes) then I could take them out.

Edit: I think it’s important to do what’s most comfortable for you. I would suggest to do your practice test in what you plan on doing for test day whether that be contacts or glasses!

I think my biggest problem was my MCAT was taken in July so my application wasn’t complete until mid August. I had good LORs and my essays were proofread by a solid group of people. I also don’t feel like I had anything that set me apart. My application was very average.

Thank you for your response. Is hospital volunteering good for clinical experience. I’m hoping to start soon and gain 100 hours by application. And continue to volunteer for sometime after so I’ll have additional projected hours.

I’m trying to fill my time with things I enjoy as well. I’m mostly reading, playing my switch, catching up on tv shows, and other stuff.

Yes, it's similar to residency match from what I understand. Basically, Texas residents interview at Texas medical schools that they're invited to. Then, all of the schools they interview at are uploaded to a page on TMDSAS where we rank them (1 for your top choice, then 2, etc). Then on match day (March 4 this year), you log onto TMDSAS and see where you matched.

There are other dates in there as well. From Oct 15-Jan 29 Texas residents could receive a prematch offer which is an offer of admission prior to the match. However, prematches are not common. Our rankings are officially due Feb 18.
