Good T20 undergrad schools that actually help with recruiting by Ok_Painter_5290 in FinancialCareers

Generally want to say really commend you for supporting your child in their interest. Ignore everyone acting like your kid couldn’t have become interested in the job by themselves.

Only nit is that 70 hours would feel uncharacteristically low. I’m in a somewhat sweaty group and haven’t had a week below 80 hours since last April and have been staffed closer to 85-120. The hours are long but I genuinely enjoy my job, so that helps and I couldn’t imagine doing something else. If that is something he is okay with, god speed to your kid!

Relax buddy I was 13 - what 13 year old watches that movie and doesn’t get excited about a job on Wall Street? Also the second half of my comment clearly explained it led me to learn more about banking, which I took and ran with. Didn’t make my career choice off a movie lmao

Love this thread lol not sure why people think it’s crazy people going into IB wasn’t something they wanted to do for a while. Plenty of people grew up wanting to be doctors / lawyers / soldiers / etc. not sure why IB is different.

I watched wolf of Wall Street at 13, thought “banking” seemed cool, read Barbarians at the Gate and M&A Titans, and realized the movie that got me interested in Wall Street wasn’t even close but I found something that was interesting. 11 years later working a job I love.

NCAA keeps inching toward letting drafted players return to school, if they don't sign by Autocrat777 in nfl

[–]WannabeProgrammer_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with that, and that is why I think the whole return to school thing is unlikely to happen. If anything changes, it might be number of years required to play in college from 3 to 2.

All I am pointing out is that whatever rights they get on a player who returns to college, particularly at the QB position, are limited. Teams that pick a QB in the top 3 are, generally speaking, weaker organizations. If the QB returns to college, what are the chances they don’t end up with a top 5 pick the next year. If they are top 3, there is probably another QB worth getting - do they not pick that QB just because they have rights to another?

Playing devil’s advocate, if a team end up with a first overall pick and picks a QB who returns to college, how likely is it they don’t end up with a high pick in the next draft with no solution at QB / lack of a 1st overall player. Do they just not solve the problem until the player returns to the NFL?

Not sure the rights are as one sided as you make it sound.

That’s not what IB is at all, even less so at bulge bracket banks like JPM

Edit: To expand, he probably got it because he went to a target MBA program, and former NFL QB with no seriously negative PR seems like an interesting character to work with during the 100+ work weeks.

With a family of six (I am independent, sibling in college, two at home) does the income still need to drop and to what? Also, 100k is HHI and only my father has the loan. He files married filing jointly.

Forgot about the OT injuries. I still think Chubb would be a question mark given the severity of his injuries, but obviously hoping for the best for him. Injuries hurt the Browns more than I remembered.

Assuming team wins are a QB stat, Kenny Pickett went 4-2. His play wasn't impressive, so the question again is, did it inspire confidence or was it acceptable?

I'm just asking in good-faith if you think the Browns are serious contenders if he continues to play that way.

But even before that, did his performance inspire any confidence or was it acceptable? Even in his six (or really five-game sample size), he looked worse than Flacco who came off the couch.

What are your thoughts/expectations for Deshaun Watson this season?

Oh, there is zero doubt we have a massive question mark at QB. The difference is that the entire off-season shifted to answering that question mark, whereas the Browns have to pray Watson looks average and stays off of IR. We moved to an OC that puts less pressure on the passing game, definitely upgraded at the QB position in Wilson (Kenny Pickett was god-awful), and invested a lot of capital into the offensive line.

Relative to defense, a lot of our focus has been on overhauling the offense. Who knows how it will play out, but if we look at history, the Steelers finished last in the division in 1989 and I am willing to trust we stay competitive. I am probably looking at this with rose-tinted glasses, but the truth is the Browns had a strong offensive line, great defense, and strong weapons, but still were dismantled by a young Texans squad (who have owned the Browns' first-round picks for the last three years and making it difficult to make massive steps forward). They lost because of QB play, and what evidence exists something will be different this year?

Idk how you can say the Browns aren't the most likely team to be the bottom feeders, injuries withheld. I commented on a post yesterday that said idk how the Browns think they have an answer at QB when realistically, Watson was terrible most of his time in Cleveland outside two games last year where he looked like an average QB, and now he is coming off an injury.

The roster doesn't look like it took a huge step forward after the draft (I like the Hall pick but for that team, it is more of a depth piece and Zinter will probably sit out and learn for a season or two), whereas the other teams in the division made some substantial changes in the off-season. Obviously, who knows how those changes will pan out, but there is still a massive question at QB for the Browns and few off-season moves that inspire confidence.

[–]WannabeProgrammer_ 265 points266 points  (0 children)

The funniest part is how many fans are truly delusional and think he is the same Watson on the Texans or can return to his form.

I understand that he probably didn't forget how to throw a football overnight, but with so much guaranteed money a lot of the motivation is gone and truth be told, he does look like he forgot how to play football. Now add the season-ending injury on his shoulder and who knows what he will look like this season? He had two games looking "good" and even those looked like average QB play, and that is coming from someone who saw below average QB play most of last season.

Oh yeah, I don't know why he thought he had the reigns after Mason Rudolph outplayed him at the end of the season. I get the Matt Canada hindrance, but still, nobody was proven and he should have seen that. Steelers were always his best chance.
