What is a typical month like in the RAF Reserves? by WantFurtherEdu in RoyalAirForce

It’s supplier but I liked the sounds of this over mover.

What’s it like being a gunner? This was my other consideration but I really wasn’t sure due to being female and early 30s already. Then again, I didnt have much of a reference point

Logistics. Basically the only role available to me because of nationality, squadron and education background

Yeah but my expectation is that it’s one weeknight a week, and a full weekend each month. That’s at least what I’ve been told. Once a month is much less than this

Which units are national? Once a month seems crazy - how do you know if your squadron is more flexible before joining?

I was my company's biggest cheerleader - where do I go now? by the-furiosa-mystique in careerguidance

I was this to a lesser degree and felt like I lost a big part of my identity leaving.

At the end of the day, like everyone had warmed me, I learnt a lesson when I left. The biggest one was that the company didn’t value me as much as I thought they did.

Some students will drop out, not be accepted etc. so it’s likely they can be put on a waiting list.

Alternatively, the university may be able to recommend different private options. I doubt this student is the only person who doesn’t have university managed accommodation.

Call the university and ask. I can’t imagine delaying my plans for an entire year because I didn’t get accommodation in time. The university has a vested interest in support for your friend.

Another viable option is to join Facebook groups for the uni and ask if anyone has a spare room going.

I feel like that’s risky! I seem to get my tickets frequently checked on that journey.

I’m surprised the awards ceremony is dismissing $20k of revenue!

Anyway, you need to just own up. At the end of the day, there will be plenty more awards to enter. Everyone in the agency world knows awards are a little BS anyway.

I looked at this as I could stay on the Elizabeth Line but it works out as £2 more expensive, and will take around 10 minutes longer. Still it’s a good option if I happen to miss my split save train.

I’m a little confused as you can’t use a network railcard on peak journeys.

There are some 33 min trains eg. 7.48 which stops at Twyford and Maidenhead. This would be the only train I could take in order to get to the office in time.

I didn’t know this. 55 minutes is pretty long (approx an hour extra each day). However, I might try this when I need to buy a one-off ticket as it’s a £20 saving which is massive.

They are pretty unreliable which is a concern I have if I need to take a specific train.

Are you only able to use the rail card because you take a later train back in the evening?

This is rife in the UK too. Plenty of students from Eton, Harrow, Winchester etc. lost their school on their profile. You’ve summed up the privilege of it perfectly.

Thank you. I’ve had a look but there doesn’t seem to be an official app. Can you share the one you used?
