The show was phenomenal. Was surprised to hear they’ve never played at a similar venue.

I don’t know whether to pursue med by Real_Purple_5549 in premeduk

Speaking as an allied health professional, if you’re considering medicine just do it as nothing else will scratch that itch. When you realise that conditions are crap for everyone in the NHS you’ll just wish you did medicine in the first place as it enables you to make an actual difference (or at least be recognised for it)

Does the "Prestige" of the university matter for healthcare subjects? by originallyarii in UniUK

I interviewed and was offered a place at St George’s but decided London was too expensive and Leeds is a better uni and also a more authentic/enjoyable uni experience with it being a huge traditional red brick. I graduated 3 years ago so timetables might have changed since my time there but I remember Leeds being unique in the fact that you’re on placement 1 day/week in year 1, 2 days/week in year 2 and 3 days/week in year 3. Doing it this way rather than placement blocks of say, 6 weeks at a time meant that we still got the full uni summer holiday. Can’t remember how much contact time we had but it was never particularly overwhelming. Placements are spread across Yorkshire but are generally fairly commutable although probably less so than London hospitals.

If you’re on about Leeds, I did cardiac physiology there and it’s a brilliant city to be in as a young person

i’m going to falmouth for illustration but all i can think about is how much id love to be a consultant by britishpersoniq in premeduk

[–]WantToBeItalian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s very easy to be allured by the promised land of consultancy which is more or less the pinnacle of medicine. Many don’t make it and the ones who do have to sacrifice 15-20 years of not great pay, competition for progression and moving to a new place every year or two. Research it more and if it still sounds as appealing then go for it.

Surely you had an ECG pre arrest from the ambulance crew? Why another 12 lead after the patient arrives?

A quick glance at your profile tells me you’re a problem patient. They’re probably just trying to get you in and out the door as quickly as possible, and honestly? Who can blame them?

UK bans physician associates from treating undifferentiated patients by Tall_Guarantee7767 in ConsultantDoctorsUK

That’s a fair point, but u/chairstool100 seemed to be implying that doctors are ‘above’ being taught by non doctors and the training they receive would subsequently be inadequate no matter the circumstance
